A/N: Sorry for the short chapter and that I haven't been updating regularly. I've been busy with school but I'm going to try to post more on a regular basis :)
Katy tirelessly spent the next two days rehearsing for her audition. She had never been so sure of something the way she was sure about this. This role was hers and she was going to own it. The woman looked at herself in the mirror, sighing deeply before joining her family in the living room.
Shawn sat on the couch trying his best to keep the baby entertained while Maya sat in on the chair, texting away.
“Mom, you're alive” said Maya sarcastically as she kept her eyes focused on her phone.
Katy rolled her eyes a little, sighing quietly as she sat next to Shawn on the couch. Shawn instinctively wrapped his arm around her and she lifted her head to peck his lips.
“Finished practicing?”, asked Shawn.
Katy nodded as she smiled softly at her baby boy sitting comfortably on his father's lap.
“You've got this, Katy. I know you do” said Shawn.
“You've always been so supportive of me. I can't even begin to thank you enough. For everything” she said, snuggling close to him.
“No need to thank me, sweetheart. I couldn't think of anyone more deserving” replied Shawn.
“It's getting late. Time to put this little one to bed” said Katy, softly kissing Shawn one last time before taking the baby and heading to the baby's room.
She sat in the rocking chair near the crib and fed her sweet boy until he fell soundly asleep.
Katy gently put him down in the crib and went to her room where Shawn was already settled in for the night. She got into bed and hoped she'd be able to get to sleep at a decent time considering she had an early call time the next morning.
As if Shawn were able to read her mind in that moment, he started rubbing her back, knowing that always helped her fall asleep easily. And within minutes, she was soundly asleep dreaming about what the future held.

The next morning, Shawn got up bright and early to make Katy a decent breakfast before her audition. He made her pancakes, bacon, and eggs while also being sure to have a fresh pot of coffee brewing for her as well.
Katy was already dressed when she walked into the dining area and noticed her plate of food prepared and ready to be eaten. “Shawn, honey, thank you. You didn't have to get up so early to do all this, though”
He walked up to her, holding her by the waist and kissing her lips. “It's fine, babe. I wanted to do this”
The woman smiled brightly as she sat at the table and ate the breakfast her husband had made with love.
As soon as she was done, she quickly headed out the door and into a cab that would take her to the audition.
Katy sat in the back of the cab nervously tapping her fingers against her leg. She shook her head and took a deep breath in an attempt to get rid of the nerves. She had to get this role. She couldn't let her family down, and most importantly, she couldn't let herself down.
The cab pulled up in front of the building and Katy had her head held high. She was ready for this. She had never been more ready in her life. After paying the driver, she got out the cab and into the building.
A young woman sat at the front desk. Katy walked up to her with a smile and air of confidence. “Hi, I'm here for the audition”
The young woman looked up at her with a small smile. “Great. Just sign in and someone will be with you momentarily”
Katy did as she was told and sat down as she waited for her name to be called.
After what seemed like hours, her name was finally called and in she went. She walked into a room with open space and bright fluorescent lighting. The casting agents and directors were seated at a long table with various folders in front of them.
They asked for her info; her name, age, the part she reading for, etc. And then it was time. Unsurprisingly, Katy Grace Hunter gave it her absolute all. She sang a little, read a few lines, and before she knew it, it was over.
The agents expressions weren't quite readable so Katy had trouble figuring out whether they were impressed or not.
However, she knew she had her answer when they started giving her information on the next call back time. She had made it to another round of auditions.
She tried her best to remain professional while in that room but as soon as she shut the door behind her, the woman did a little happy dance to herself.
She made it through and this was only the beginning.
