Shawn found himself surprised at just how quickly Jack was willing to drop everything to be there for him. In the past, Shawn had written him off as nothing more than selfish, but perhaps he was wrong. They were both older now. Maybe he had changed.

Maya was in her room sketching in her notebook when Shawn tapped on her door. “Maya, get dressed and help me clean up a bit. Your Uncle Jack will be here soon”, he said and left before she could respond.

She sat up with a questioning look on her face. Uncle Jack? Shawn's brother? This was certainly unexpected, Maya had always assumed they weren't that close since he was never around much and Shawn hardly ever talked about him.

“Is everything alright or should I be worried?” questioned Maya when she joined Shawn in the living room to help tidy the place.

Shawn decided to be completely honest with his daughter, no more sugar coating. The man sighed, his eyes focused intently on the ground beneath him. “No, I'm not alright. But I will be. And sometimes when things aren't alright, you call on family to help get you through it” There was a part of him that hoped he would not end up regretting this decision.

“We're a pretty small family, it's best to stick together ” stated Maya in a somber yet understanding tone. Maya thought back to when she first met Jack. It was at her school’s homecoming dance and he was there chaperoning with Cory's brother, Eric.

Truthfully, she wouldn’t had even known that he was Shawn's brother if Cory hadn't mentioned it later on the evening when the dance was almost over.

However, once Cory told her that, she could see the resemblance. In facial features, that is. As far as personality and lifestyle wise - the two were polar opposites.

Maya, noticing Shawn's eyebrows furrowed together in thought and a look of distress on his face, continued “But he's not the only family you've got. You still have me and Little Shawn..” She paused before continuing. “And Mom. You still have Mom..”

As Shawn texted Jack the address to the apartment, there was a nagging feeling in the back of his mind that told him he needed a drink. He ignored it. Instead, he decided to text Katy to tell her he wanted to see the baby.

“Bobbie Jo, we're fine. Really.” Katy insisted for the billionth time since earlier that morning. Her best friend had cooked breakfast for her and her baby boy and now Bobbie Jo was asking her if she needed anything.

The brunette pressed on. “You're my best friend and a guest in my home, so I wanna make sure you're taken care of”

“I know and I love you for that” replied Katy. She sat on the bed in the guest room rummaging through the duffel bag she had hastily packed that previous night. Seeing as she had only packed a few days worth of clothing, Katy would unavoidably have to return home soon.

But she wasn't even quite sure that she wanted to. At least not right then. She had a mini press tour that afternoon to promote the musical and then she would decide what to do, how long she would stay. Just a few more days, maybe. Maya would be fine with Shawn for now, better off even. That's what Katy kept telling herself.

Thanks to the magic of makeup artists, Katy didn't have to do much to get ready that day. When she went to check her phone she saw the text from Shawn asking to see the baby. Katy sighed as she replied back to let him know she'd bring him by tomorrow.

“Just wanted to thank you again for watching him for me. You're a life saver” said Katy as she walked into the living room.

“It's no trouble at all, girl. Me and little man here will be just fine” said Bobbie Jo, smiling down at the baby.
