Whether it was by some sort of miracle or the fact that Katy had been working towards this for practically her entire life, she got  that callback she was hoping for.

She had shown up once again at that same building where casting for Waitress was being held and sat in a waiting area with four other women who she noticed had similar features to her own.

One by one, they were each called in individually. Soon, Katy was the only one left waiting and it seemed like an eternity. Those women must have been pretty amazing if it's taking them this long. She thought to herself.

The clock on the wall seemed to be moving at a snail's pace with no hope of ever speeding up. Katy nervously tapped her fingers against the sides of her legs and took another sweeping glance around the room. Finally, her name was called.

This time Katy was asked to read for the starring role which came as quite a surprise. The woman knew this industry pretty well at this point so she knew to aim high while also maintaining a realistic outlook.

Although she was an actress with a few small roles under her belt, she had not had Broadway training the way those stars usually did. As far as Katy was concerned, she was far from a “star” at this point in her career. She stood there stunned. “You..you want me to read for Jenna?”, she repeated, still in disbelief.

“Yes ma'am that is correct” replied the casting agent, a silver haired gentleman who appeared to be in his late 50s or early 60s.

And with that, Katy closed her eyes and took a deep breath, remembering just how hard she fought and everything she sacrificed to make it this far.

She read those lines and gave it her absolute everything. They made her repeat a few lines and sing a note or two from various songs. When she was finished, she watched as they wrote some things down and consulted quietly with one another.

As if realizing she was still in the room, the agents and the director looked up to acknowledge her. “Thank you, Ms. Katy Hunter, that will be all for today.” said another one of the agents, also the only woman within the group.

And then it was over. Again. There was nothing more she could do except pray for that miracle.

Katy took another cab from the audition to the grocery store to pick up a few items for home. Despite being exhausted, she knew it had to be done.

She grabbed a cart and began her trek with the knowledge that she had to be frugal considering she would have to carry the grocery bags up to the apartment.

Starting out in the frozen foods section, she grabbed two frozen pizzas for dinner that night and breadsticks to go with it. She got juice for the house and a 12 pack of soda that was on sale. If there was one thing that living paycheck to paycheck had taught her, it was how to be a savvy shopper.

After getting a few more items and claiming a spot in line, Katy could practically hear home calling her name. Her husband, her children, her warm bed. Wait. Children. The baby. I still need to get more diapers and wipes. Crap. She sighed as she got out of line and headed to the baby section.

Finally, she had purchased everything she needed and she hailed the nearest cab back to the apartment.

She walked up to the apartment, setting the groceries down and taking out her keys to unlock the door. Upon walking inside, she was greeted by the not so pleasant cries of her 8 month old son.

A look of relief washed over Shawn as he stood in the living room gently bouncing their son in an attempt to console him. “Oh, thank God you're home. He's hungry and obviously I'm no use to him..” said Shawn.

Katy was still breastfeeding their son but now thinking about it, she wondered if she'd be able to continue that if she were to get this role.

With a sympathetic smile, she took the baby from her husband and the crying immediately stopped.

“Of course he likes you more than me” said Shawn sarcastically.

Katy chuckled softly. “Now you know that's not true.” She took a seat on the couch, kicking off her shoes and then pulled down her top to feed him.

As she fed him, she glanced over at Shawn, typing on his laptop. “Hey babe, I got two pizzas in one of those grocery bags. Do you mind putting them in the oven for us?”

“Sure thing” he replied, and he took the pizzas out of the bag to place them in the oven.

“Hey, where's Maya?” asked Katy.

“Oh, she went out with friends. Should be back soon” replied Shawn.

“Which friends?” inquired Katy.

Shawn shrugged. “I dunno. The same ones she always hangs out with?”

Katy frowned. With all the craziness going on, she had felt sort of distant from Maya lately. She made a mental note to plan a girl’s day with just the two of them soon.

The oven timer went off thirty minutes later indicating that the pizza was done. The baby was fast asleep so Katy went to lay him down and then sat down at the dining room table to eat.

Shawn sat across from her and did that staring thing he's been doing ever since they first met. Katy hardly mentioned it anymore whenever he did but it had grown to be one of her favorite things in the world.

Katy looked out the window and started to make a comment on how late it was and question why Maya wasn't home yet when suddenly she came through the door as if she had read her mother’s mind.

Maya entered the house without saying a word to either of her parents. She walked with an attitude, heading towards her room when Shawn stopped her.

“Hey, not so fast. We don't even get a hello?” said Shawn.

Maya rolled her eyes. “Hello?” Although it sounded more like a question than a formal greeting.

She tried to walk away again but was then interrupted by Katy. “There's pizza here if you're ready to eat”

Maya sighed heavily, walking backwards to the kitchen before turning around and grabbing a paper plate, tossing two slices of pizza onto the plate.

Shawn furrowed his eyebrows, looking at Maya. “What's your deal, kid?”

“I don't have a deal..” replied Maya, as she took her plate and headed to her room once again.

Katy eyed her husband with a look of confusion as she heard Maya’s room door shut. “What on earth is going on with our daughter?”

Shawn waved it off in a flippant manner, shaking his head. “Probably just being a teenager, Katy. You know Maya..she gets in her moods sometimes”

Katy nodded in agreement and hoped that's all it was.

Once dinner was finished, Shawn and Katy got ready for bed. Katy had an evening shift tomorrow at Topanga's but she was actually looking forward to it because Topanga would be working that day as well.

They hadn't really spent much time together since Topanga got pregnant and Katy had so many auditions every week. She could hardly wait to catch up with her best friend.

Katy flipped through the channels on TV  and let an episode of Friends play in the background as she settled down in bed. Shawn had just got out the shower and smelled like that Old Spice body wash he wore that Katy loved. He wrapped his arms around her as he got into bed. She snuggled closely to him, taking in his scent, and all was peaceful for the night.
