lavender

-

soft and sweet, you speak to me.
your words as pink as your cheeks,
you're so very innocent;
naïve and carefree.

there may have been a time where i believed,
that nothing else could have a hold over me.
but here we are now, as you speak
your lavender words through stark white teeth.

i never thought i'd fall so hard,
for someone like you, but here we are,
at two in the morning, when sleep is far.

your lavender words put me to sleep,
i dream of valleys, of you with me.
i see a world enveloped in peace,
i begin to forget i'm in a dream.

i reach for your hand, but from mine it slips.
no words have echoed from your lips.
you stand still, and the curves in your hips
tell me the true story, of who else you've kissed.

i turn away, and start to walk,
tears in my eyes, before we've talked.
i didn't think i'd leave this way,
i wanted to think you'd beg me to stay.

now i lay alone, i sleep.
an empty home, you're not with me.
into my head, the demons creep;
your lavender words are mine to keep.
