The Tree

The next day was Saturday.
You are now waking up feeling fresh from sleeping in.
You walked out of the girls dorm into the Slytherin common room, where you saw a few people chatting and hanging out as usual.
Dan was one of the few, he was talking to two other people you didn't know.

You didn't bother wavering or saying hi, you just walked right past them.
You didn't even know if he was looking at you or anything, you walked out of the common room without making eye contact.

You walked down the halls to go meet your friends outside.
Louise had told you Dan wouldn't be there so you agreed to go, and it seemed like she was right because he was still in the common room.

Someone walked past you, but stopped in their tracks when they got a good look at you.
"(Y/n)?" You heard a guys voice ask.
You turn around to see the blue haired Ravenclaw boy, Ethan.

"U-uh....." You didn't know what to say, you didn't think you would see him again.
"I thought you were a Ravenclaw. Why are you in Slytherin robes?" He asked.
"I-i...um..." You stuttered.

"Did you lie to me? Are you now who I think you are?" He questioned.
"Let me explain-" he cut you off.
"Am i going to get into any trouble for knowing any of this? Because if there is a possible chance I will, then maybe I don't want to know." He said.

"Umm....then I probably shouldn't explain." You replied.
He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
"Well, then see ya. Or not. I don't know..." He concluded.
"Bye Ethan." You said as he walked away.
He just waved without turning around to look back at you.

You sighed and started to wonder if you will ever see him again.
Then you remembered your supposed to meet your friends and turned around to continue walking.

When you walked outside you saw the tree you and your friends usually likes to meet up and hang out at.
Louise, Zoe, Joe, Caspar, PJ, Chris, Tyler, and Phil were all hanging out around it talking and having fun.

Right when you walked up Louise immediately cheered "(Y/N)!!"
You laughed as everyone else cheered your name with her, then PJ came up from behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist.
Then you both fell to the ground and everyone, including the two of you, started laughing.

PJ sat up with you on his lap.
When the laughing died down a little he kissed your cheek.
Everyone simultaneously went "awww."
Except Chris, who was kind of glaring at you. When you noticed him he looked down at the ground and twiddled his fingers.

What's his problem? You thought.
Actually come to think of it, he has been kind of like that around me all the time.
You started to wonder why you just now noticed this, considering it has been going on ever since you met him and PJ.

Maybe he is just a protective friend.
Maybe I just need to get to know him better, so he can see I'm not that bad.
You snapped out of your thoughts when Zoe started calling your name.
"(Y/n), are you okay?" She asked.

You look around at everybody who was giving you a concerned look, except for Chris who was still looking at the ground.

"Oh....y-ya, I'm fine." You replied.
Everybody went back to chatting and laughing together after a few more questions like "are you sure your okay?" And "are you sure your sure?" And finally "nothing's wrong, right?"
You just kept saying yes.

When really, you're not okay.

There are a lot of things that are wrong.

But you didn't want to talk about it yet.
Maybe your never going to want to talk about it. But that's okay.

You can deal with it.
You can deal with knowing one of your friends is using dark magic.
You can deal with being with someone you don't truly love.
You can deal with getting dirty looms from one of your "friends."
You can deal with Dan ignoring and avoiding you all the time.

But you don't know for how long.
Eventually you'll be tired of it, one day you'll break.
And all of your emotions you have been keeping bottled up will spill.
But until then, all you can do is lie.

And sometimes, you really hate lieing.

Joe, Caspar, and Tyler went off with Louise to the Library to study for a test they all have in on of their classes.
Zoe went off with a Gryffindor guy you never met named Alfie who she said was her boyfriend.

So you were left with PJ, Chris, and Phil.

The four of you decided to stay outside and hang out by the tree as it got dark out.

PJ sat next to you with his hand on top of yours. Phil sat on your other side and Chris sat on PJ's other side.

"The sunset is so beautiful, I wish Dan was here to see it." Said Phil.
You took this as an opportunity to ask why Dan has been avoiding you.
"So, why isn't Dan here to see it?" You asked.

Phil looked from the sky, to you, to the ground.
His smile dropped, like he knew the answer but didn't want to tell you.

"Well...um....you see, I can't really tell you." He mumbled.
You raised an eyebrow at him, "really, why not?" You questioned.

"Because I just can't." He replied.
"Phil. Please tell me." You begged.
"I've got to go." He said while quickly getting up.
"Phil!" You called after him
But he sped-walked away before you could continue to question him.

You sighed in frustration.
PJ grabbed you hand in his and kissed the back of it.
"Why does it matter anyway?" He asked you softly.
You turn your head and looked into his beautiful icy blue eyes.
It almost crushed you to even think about his reaction if you were to tell him how you really felt.
The hurt and sorrow that would overflow his bright and happy eyes.

You just simply said, "its nothing. He has just been avoiding me lately and I wanted to know why."
He nodded.

You kisses his cheek and stood up.
"I'm going to bed now." You stated.
"I'll walk you." He replied as he was getting ready to stand up.
But you put your hand on his shoulder and made him sit back down.

"No, it's okay. I'll walk by myself. I need some time to think. Why don't you stay and talk to Chris?" You suggested.
He turned to Chris who looked at you with confusion.

"Goodnight guys." You said as you walked off.
"Goodnight!" PJ called after you.
Chris said nothing.

That night you walked back to your dorm by yourself, like you told PJ you would.

You had so many questions you wanted answered.
You had so many things to think about.

But who knows what the answers will be or if you'll ever get them?
