"Your room is cool."
"Thanks."
He says, walking around.
"I'm trying to fix it up.""What else are you wanting to do with it?"
His shoulders shrug.
"I want it to look like it's mine.""It is yours."
"Because I stole it from some dead kid."
I furrow my eyebrows, chewing the skittles he had stashed on the bed.
"The original Alexandrians found this place and took it upon themselves to make it comfortable and homey."
He purses his lips.
"But it's not mine.""How long have you been here?"
"Awhile now."
He says.
"Obviously way longer than you.""But it's so much better now that I'm here."
"Shut up, dork."
He chuckles, plopping down on his stomach on the bed.I put my feet near the headboard and lie my cheek down next to his face, noses almost touching.
"I really did miss you, though."
"I missed you a lot."
I whisper.
"I thought about you a ton.""How much?"
"I can't even describe it!"
"You're such a nerd."
He murmurs, gently placing a kiss on my lips."I love you."
"I love you, too."
He replies.
"I'm gonna take you somewhere special.""Well, I really like carnivals... just puttin' that out there."
"It's not going to be anything near something like a fairground."
He says.
"Put your shoes on, and follow me."Curious, I do as I'm told and immediately begin to follow him out of the house. I thought maybe he was going to take me to the gazebo and kiss me, but then I realized who I was with, I doubt Carl would ever do something like that.
It felt like we were walking forever, because every single path we took lasted so long, plus walking in gravel always makes things appear longer.
"What weapon are you using nowadays?"
He asks."A knife."
I reply.
"Daddy gave me a pistol, too.""You have those with you?"
"Yeah."
"Just making sure."
After a few more minutes, we arrive at what used to be a pretty little lake surrounded by a bunch of thick trees. Now, the water was a little dark and the wooden walkway was a little unstable, but for the most part, you could probably still hang out here.
