I cried all the way to Zayn’s house and he had to practically drag me inside. I cried into his pillow while he made some food. When he came back upstairs, he laid next to me and turned on a movie until I was done crying. I fell asleep and when I woke up an hour later, he was passed out adorably next to me. I moved closer to him and he suddenly woke up.

“Babe, you okay?” he muttered groggily. “About, you know?”

I don’t want to talk about it,” I said, lifting his arm and cuddling into his chest. He tightened his arm around me, kissed my forehead, and his eyes started to flutter. “You can go back to sleep.”

“I just wanted to tell you that you look really pretty when you sleep,” he smiled.

“You too,” I joked. He laughed tiredly and we both went back to sleep. Before I knew it, it was 5:18 in the morning. I thought I’d heard someone cry, thinking it was myself weeping. I felt my face and it was dry. Then I looked at the window and heard raindrops hitting the earth loudly. Just the rain, just the rain, always the rain. Then, I rolled over, sadder still, and tried to go back to sleep. My mind was racing, though.

Soon, real tears were dripping from my eyes and rolling onto Zayn’s arm. He heard me crying softly and woke up.

“Babe,” he yawned. “Talk to me.”

“He said he doesn’t hate me—he just doesn’t care about me,” I said quietly. His arms tightened around me. “He’s my best friend. How could he say that to me?”

“He does care about you,” he assured me. “But listen, he’s just angry at himself because he’s avoided you for this long. He doesn’t want to face the fact that you’re hurting more because of him and not me.”

“I just want my friend back,” I whimpered. He shushed me and coaxed me back to sleep gently.

Harry

Niall left soon after Perrie did that night, but I stuck around to stay with my girlfriend. We were watching Titanic, or at least trying to. It was one of my favorite movies, but Everly was so upset that she wouldn’t shut up about Perrie not coming to hang out.

“I can’t believe she ditched me,” Everly fumed. “I’m sending her a strongly worded text.”

“Don’t,” I sighed.

“Why not?” she asked as she tapped away furiously. “I’m going to call her out for being a flake.” She shifted in my lap slightly so that my hand rested on her hip and I could see what she was sending and receiving.

Thanks for bailing. I won’t expect you to commit to things anymore. She sent it and locked her phone abruptly. She bounced her leg, impatiently awaiting the reply and unlocked her phone as soon as it came.

“Look, do you want to watch this another day?” I asked. I was getting annoyed.

“No, it’s fine, just watch it,” she said as she read the text.

I’m sorry I just thought it would be weird. I’ll hang out with you alone but I didn’t want to get in the way of you and Harry with my being there. Don’t be upset ): love you xx –P

“So can you shut the phone off now?”

“This is really important, babe, so be quiet” she said distractedly. I pushed her off of my lap and stood abruptly.

“Right, then. I’m going home,” I said coldly. She looked up at me angrily.

“What the hell? What are you getting so butthurt over?” she snapped. “Like, stop.”
