"So where are we off to now?" Jace questioned after a couple of minutes of sitting in silence as I drove down the highway to who knows where.

"I'm not sure," I admitted. "I didn't think we would get this far if I'm being honest."

Jace then smiled at me and brushed his hand across my cheek. His soft brown eyes had burned through my skin and all of a sudden I felt my common sense kick in.

What exactly was I doing?

Here I was again with the same strange barista, driving him to nowhere in my car, with unknown intentions! Why must I do this to myself? I needed to take him back to wherever he dwelled and head on home so I could get the future endless lecture from my brothers over with.

"How about I take you home?" I suggested after pulling my face away from his touch.

"At least buy me dinner first, sweetheart!"

"That's not what I meant!"

I felt my cheeks heat up quickly as Jace chuckled at my embarrassment.

"You're too cute."

"Thanks..." I sighed softly, stealing a quick glance from him.

"Aren't you going to ask me for my address?" Jace asked with a patronizing smile painted across his features.

I found myself rolling my eyes at his statement with a small smile on my face as I turned around and started driving to Jace's house.

By the time we'd arrive to Jace's house, it was late in the afternoon and our awkward encounter with CJ had seemed to disappear.

"Thank you for taking me home," he sighed as he peered over at me.

"No problem. I figured it was the least I could do after what happened with my brothers."

"Don't worry about that Caden. They're only making the hunt a bit more interesting."

I simply ignored his comment as I waited for him to get out of my car. Minutes passed and nothing happened. I still felt him beside me.

"So, what are you waiting for?" I asked.

"Don't you want to come inside?"

"Why would I want to do that?"

"You drove me all the way over here, you might as well stay for a little while. I want you to meet my family."

"Excuse me?" I almost choked on my spit. "I drove you home as a favor!"

"And I let you!... As a favor. Just come inside for half an hour."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"No."

"Yes."

Jace smiled as the realization hit me. He did that stupid mind trick on me and I fell for it!

"You said yes."

"Only because you said no."

"Oh don't worry princess," he started. "I bet they'll be times where you'll be begging me to stop saying yes."

He got out the car shortly and I found myself following behind him. A few minutes inside couldn't hurt and I didn't really feel like rushing home to my mob of idiots just yet.
