Chapter 4: Whatever Comes Next
"I swear they're try to poison us." Ivy complained, turning her nose up at the burger on her lunch tray. I had already taken a bite, my eyes wide.
"You think so?" I said, my mouth full of food. "I reckon it's nice."
Her eyebrows rose. "Yeah, you can say that when you're fat and 200 pounds."
I laughed, almost spilling my food everywhere. The sound of stilettos on the hard floor were rapidly approaching, and I felt an aura of darkness suddenly erupted around everywhere. I knew who it was.
Oh, this outta be good, I thought.
"Ivy," Eliza addressed her from where she was standing. She glared at me.
I stared back at her angelic-like face, showing nothing.
"What are you doing here?" She snarled at Ivy, her eyes as piercing as diamonds.
Ivy folded her arms over her chest. "Sitting, eating." She said, her tone clipping.
Eliza clenched her fists. "You know damn well what I'm talking about." She hissed. "Why are you sitting with her?"
Ivy gave her an evil glare. "We're friends, Eliza." She told her, and Eliza narrowed her eyes menacingly. "That's right, I know your dirty little secret." She turned her back on Eliza coldly, and I could see the look of astonishment on both mine and Eliza's faces.
"Ivy, if you walk away now, your reputation will be ruined." She rumbled, but Ivy hardly budged, saying nothing.
"Fine, but remember this. Whatever we give her-" she flicked a finger in my direction, "-you better be ready to get it aswell."
She flicked her hair, checked her nails and started to walk away. I boiled and bubbled with fury, my face turning red and my lips in a hard line.
Ivy sensed my distress, and just shook her head. "Let it go, Lily."
But I wouldn't. I glared murderously at her retreating figure.
"She just can't do that to people." I hissed, shoving myself up from the table and storming towards her. For some reason my confidence level was churning with anger, all I wanted to do was punch her in the face.
"Eliza!" I sneered, and she turned around, rolling her eyes.
"What?" She didn't look at me, she stared past my head, refusing to look into my eyes. Walking right up to her, I realised that she was at least a head taller.
"This stops here!" I told her, and she looked bemused.
"What? You're going to hit me?" She laughed wickedly. "I'd like to see you tr-"
I slapped her across the cheek with all the force I had. It clicked sideways, a red mark of five fingers imbedded into it. The crowd of students 'ooh'd and 'aah'd with interest. She snapped her head back and glared at me.
I smiled evilly, ready for her next move.
Eliza reached her hands out and grabbed my shirt, picking me up off the ground. She raised me over her head and my feet kicked helplessly in mid air.
"Let her go! Eliza!" Ivy shrieked from behind us. My eyes were wide with fear and rage.
She shrugged. "If you say so."
