Victoria's POV

Thirty minutes had passed and I was still sitting on my tree stump moping. *sigh* but it was actually pretty nice. The breeze rustled my hair which helped cool my temper (and my flaming cheeks) and it was calming to have some quiet and to be able to just hear the leaves on the forest floor bustling about.

I closed my eyes, focusing on these sounds and I felt my breathing slow down.

Ok Victoria, stop feeling sorry for yourself! You are 18 for pete's sake, you can't let her see that she's getting to you and that she's pissing you off....that's like adding gasoline to a flame, misery only encourages them to be even more evil.

Then of course the less rational part of my mind kicked in and retorted,

CALM? Calm?! How can I do that when she acts like Barbie on crack?!

I had to give it to myself, I had a valid point about the Barbie thing. I was thinking about this when all of a sudden a small rock rolled into the middle of the path.

My head shot up as I looked up straight in front of me to the other side of the path. I still had tears in my eyes so objects were kinda blurry but I thought I could make something out in the shadows of the trees.

*gasp!* The hell?!

It looked like two shinning, emerald green eyes were watching me!

"VICTORIA!" I jumped at hearing my name and I turned  to see who had called my name and I saw Daniel running down the path toward me.

I turned back, quickly wiping away any of my remanding tears, looking again for the glowing eyes...they were no longer there.

Did I just imagine them? No.....I couldn't have.....

"Victoria are you ok?? What happened? Jess said you just ran off! I've been looking for you over an hour." Daniel said as he grabbed my shoulders so that I could look at him.

As I did look at him I felt bad for running off because his eyes looked so worried!

"Yeah no I'm ok. I'm sorry I worried you!"

"You sure you're ok?" He asked me skeptically. He looked me up and down apparently noticing my bloody knees and hands for the first time.

I could visibly see his eyes widen as he knelt down in front of me.

"Oh fuck, what did you do?!" he sounded exasperated. Crap.

"I tripped and fell but come on I'm perfectly fine alright silly? I just want to get back to camp."

He stood up, "Alright, I'll clean your cuts up when we get back. And I'm sure you're pretty hungry too."

I had to agree with him, I had run off before lunch and Daniel told me in was already 7! My stomach was indeed demanding food!

It took us maybe an hour to get back and during that walk I remembered why I loved him so much. We laughed and joked and shockingly he even gave me a piggyback ride! hahaha

Most people would think that I was overly attached to my brother and that he was too protective of me but for years we were all the family each other had. And we would do anything for one another.

Daniel is six years older then me and was always kind of like half brother half parent to me. Both our parents were consumed in their jobs which kept them out of the country for long periods of time.

And even though I'm sure Daniel would have liked to have grown up like normal kid, not having to worry or take care of his little sister, he never made me feel unloved or unwanted.
