"What's all the noise about?!"

We broke apart to see Jake, Jane, and Helen all standing in the kitchen entrance looking sleepy and confused.

Blake let go of my face to grab my hand, "Helen, Jake, Jane...we have some very good news for you."

"Well," Jake started, "What is it?"

Blake gave my hand a quick squeeze as he spoke, "Victoria has chosen to stay here with me as my mate."

Helen was the first one to process the news and react. She threw her hands up and ran over to give us both a hug.

"Oh my goodness! Blake, this is fantastic news! I'm so happy for you both! Oh let me make us a nice breakfast to celebrate!"

And with that Helen marched her way to the fridge already on the mission to make the most amazing celebratory breakfast known to werewolf and man.

Jane ran over and gave me a hug, "I'm so glad you chose to stay! I was really hoping you would! I've been waiting years for Blake to find his mate and I'm so happy it's you."

Her words brought tears to my eyes, this was such a loving family.

"Thank you Jane, that really means a lot to me. Thank you for accepting me."

While I had been hugging Jane, Jake had walked over to Blake.

"It's about time you know, I think we were all starting to wonder if you would ever find a girl that would tolerate you!"

"Oh hey now!" Blake laughed, "I'm still young! You also know very well that I was going to wait however long I needed to wait till the perfect person came into my life." He turned to look down at me, "And she finally did."

Being mates with someone is such a funny thing, your whole life people make it very clear that you can't love someone you don't know. That makes perfect sense, how can you have deep emotions for a stranger you know nothing about?

Yet here I was, completely head over heels for Blake, someone who I had just met. As weird as it sounds, I know I don't know very much about him but I feel like I've known him for years already.

We all ate breakfast together, laughing and joking, they told me stories about things they did growing up and Helen told me how they were always breaking things around the house and how she would get so frustrated.

Once we were all full of eggs, bacon, pancakes, and sausage, Blake and I volunteered to wash the dishes. Helen of course objected to us cleaning as she had dubbed it our "special day" but Blake managed to convince her.

We were alone washing dishes when Blake asked me, "I want to know more about you and I'm sure you want to know more about me, how would you like to turn it into a game? You give me an answer and I'll give you one."

I chuckled, "Sounds good to me, why don't you go first?"

"Alright, favorite color?"

"Easy. Blue, you?"

"Green. Your turn."

I thought for a moment, "Favorite meal?"

"Steak with mashed potatoes and green beans or a beef stew."

I laughed, "So you like beef, I should have known. After all, you are part dog!"

Blake twisted his face trying to look offended, "Hey! Not dog, wolf! Totally different! Anyways, what's yours?"

"Fettuccine alfredo, I have a thing for pasta."

"Good to know! Well why don't we move on to some harder questions, I obviously know about your brother but what is the rest of your family situation?"

"Oh well you know that's, uh, that's it."

Blake stopped washing the dish in his hand and turned to look at me, "What do you mean that's it? There isn't anyone else?"

I knew this was coming, I knew it! Something tells me he isn't going to let this go easily. Although, to some degree I guess he did kind of have a right to know...

"I mean yes my parents are around it's just, well they aren't really a part of my life and they haven't been for a while now."

I took the sponge out of Blake's hand and started washing. Talking about my parents always made me upset and when I'm upset, I always get the urge to clean.

"My mom and dad got divorced pretty early on. I was seven or eight and Dan was just a few years older. I don't remember much about our life when they were married, they were both always off doing their own thing. I'm pretty sure the both of them only had kids because it was the thing to do at the time. Honestly, growing up, Dan and I felt like nothing but an inconvenience to them. So When they finally got divorced, our mother gave my dad full custody of us and moved away out of the state as soon as possible. Dan and I haven't really heard much from her since. It's rough to think about but I guess she just enjoyed the idea of a carefree life without the responsibility of kids and a spouse."

I paused in my story, I had run out of dishes to wash and was now impulsively cleaning the counter tops. I sighed and continued, never looking up from my task.

"Anyways, here's something else you might not know about me, my uh, my dad is the CEO of this huge investment firm so yeah, lots of money in our family. So after our mom left us, he still had a multi million dollar business to run so he was always traveling around.
At first he would take us with him, which is why we were homeschooled for a little while. Dan and I both had our own personal tutors.
