SETTING: FLASHBACK. A school hallway, lined with lockers.
AT RISE: CASSIA, HAZEL, and WILLOW are standing near the wall.
HAZEL: So do you guys want to meet for lunch on Sunday?
CASSIA: What time?
(CASSIA notices something on the back of WILLOW's hand.)
CASSIA: Hey, Willow, are you okay? Where did those bruises come from?
(WILLOW hastily pulls her sleeve over her hand.)
WILLOW: Oh... It's nothing. I just fell yesterday when I was cleaning the garage. (forced laughter) How clumsy of me, right?
(CASSIA pulls back WILLOW's sleeve, revealing more bruises and a series of scars.)
CASSIA: And these cuts! They're deep! Willow, what's wrong? Is there something you aren't telling us?
HAZEL: Willow? What's going on? We're worried about you!
WILLOW: (angrily) Well, you shouldn't be. (in a calmer tone) I'm completely fine. It's nothing. I have to get to class.
(WILLOW hurries off, leaving CASSIA and HAZEL staring after her.)
