SETTING: A small park.

AT RISE: OLIVE is sitting on a bench between CASSIA and HAZEL.

OLIVE: Sometimes I just feel... sad. And then I think about how it would be so much easier just to die. Does that sound... dumb?

HAZEL: No, not at all. We all can't help being sad, we're human.

CASSIA: But if we just look, we can find happiness and beauty everywhere.

OLIVE: Happiness is hard to come by these days. I've looked, but...

HAZEL: Just keep talking. We'll listen.

CASSIA: If it's painful, then give some of the pain to us.

OLIVE: I just can't deal with how low my life is for me anymore. I can't deal with how they look at me in the halls. I can't--

(OLIVE's eyes widen, and she abruptly stops.)

CASSIA: Olive, are you being bullied?

(OLIVE nods silently.)

CASSIA: Is it online?

HAZEL: (angrily) Is it Sophie?

OLIVE: ...and then I wonder, why life is so kind to people like her, and so terrible to me. I must be doing it wrong. The universe is setting me up to fail.

CASSIA: Olive, we should feel sorry for people like Sophie. She will eventually meet her end from the people she did wrong to, and you will rise stronger than ever and say, "I survived."

HAZEL: And if you hold on for just a little longer, even if it's painful, it's what builds your self confidence, your character.

CASSIA: Promise us you'll hold on.

OLIVE: When you two are there, it's easier. If you two will be there for me, I can hold on. For as long as you'll support me.

CASSIA: Of course.

HAZEL: Always.

(The three hug.)
