Jason's pov

I finished up my album then drove to the school where Miranda was playing softball in a game. I saw Ruth-Anne and Alex. It's been almost a month since everything happened between us but they were holding hands and sitting in the bleachers. I bit my lip and stayed on the side line. Not wanting to face those two. "DAD!" I turned around and smiled. "Hey princess." I say, hugging her. "We're going to O'Charley's after the game. Ya coming?" "I uh I guess so. I'm not sure." The coach calls her and she runs onto the field. My eyes go wide. "Number nine. Just like me." "Hey Jason up here!" Ruth-Anne calls. Alex forces a nervous smile and waves. I sit beside them. "Did she know I was number nine when I played baseball in high school?" I say. "Wow. No we didn't know." Ruth-Anne says smiling. "Just another thing we have in common." I whisper, smiling. "Hey Jason ya wanna join us for dinner after the game?" Alex asks. I nod nervously.

My baby girl won the game!! I scoop her up on my shoulders. "Three cheers!" Alex says clapping. She laughs. "Put me down, crazy." I set her down and pat her head. "Lucky number nine I guess works for generations." "Huh?" She asks confused. "I was number nine in high school with baseball." "Cool!" We go to dinner. Miranda talked about her team and going for the pros. She went on and on and it was adorable. I was drinking my drink when I felt a hand on my knee. Alex. It caught me so off guard I almost choked on my drink as my leg hit the table. Now everyone was staring at me. My face burns in embarrassment. I stand up. "I uh will y'all excuse me." I mumble, then go to the bathroom. "Damn." I whisper. "Are you alright?" I freeze hearing Alex's voice. I turn around. "W-What are you doing here?" "I'm... I've got news." "What news." "Well two things." She says and blushes big time. "Good or bad Alex?" "I'm divorcing Ruth. I want to be with you, Jason." Whoa. I'm too shocked to say anything. "And.... Um.... I'm pregnant." My jaw drops. "YOU'RE KIDDING?!" She shakes her head. "I'm not sure what to do but I love you, Jason." I walk over and wrap her in my arms, her head on my chest. "I love you too and I'm here for you. Whatever you decide to do. I'm here. I'll always be here." She cries softly against my chest. I can't believe she wants to leave Ruth for me. I hold her tightly as she cries.
