Befriending A Bully

HAYLEY POV:
"HURRY UP HAYLEY!" I heard my friends shout. Great, I'm going to be late for school again. "YOU DIDN'T WAIT FOR ME TO TIE MY SHOES AT THE HOUSE! TYLER GET YOUR BUTT BACK HERE AND WAIT FOR ME PLEASE!" I shouted at my group of friends which consisted of myself, Tyler, Amber and Zane. Looking ahead, I saw a tall, dark-haired boy stop and turn to look at me, forcing himself walk back to where I was. He's my best friend and when we're in front of a few of our other friends we act though we hate each other but it's almost impossible to keep us apart for any longer than a day. He walked back to where I was knelt tying my shoes and nudged me hard enough so I fell over but luckily, I was close enough to the floor so I only fell on my butt. "Thanks for coming back nerd," I joked. "Don't make me walk off and leave you again, because you know I will," he said with a laugh. We both knew he was joking but, me being cocky I replied, "go on then, you won't." He started walking away as I looked back down at my shoes, making sure they were tied so I didn't notice he left me to walk with Zane and Amber, I looked up and realised so I swiftly ran up to them and jumped on Tyler's back, making him pay attention to me. "Hey! Why'd you leave me?" I asked making my voice sound as sad as I could. "You told me to walk away so I did, simple as," he said with a slight laugh. I was going to say something but then Amber asked if we had done the English homework which was to write five-hundred words about being stuck in the middle of a natural hazard so anything from earthquakes to tornadoes or hurricanes. Tyler and Zane had obviously wrote way more than the word limit because they love writing but Amber and I had made sure to write at least five hundred.

We continued walking to school, joking about random things we found funny. When we were about two minutes away from school I noticed the school bullies across the road from us; Lucas and Aria. "Guys, don't look now but look across the road," I told the others. "What? Oh great. I swear if they come over here I'm going to throw Hay in a bush," Amber spoke up with Zane writing 'I agree' on his whiteboard. "WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU TWO?" I screeched which unfortunately, caught the attention of Aria who dragged Lucas behind as she marched over to us.

"Excuse us darlings, could you not be so loud? Otherwise it'd be Lucas throwing all of you into a bush not Amber," Aria spoke with anger in her voice, "isn't that right Luke?" She gestured to her boyfriend who was shaking his head until she turned around and quickly nodded his head. She turned back around with an evil smirk on her face. "Why don't you just leave them alone for once? What have they ever done to make you bully them?" Lucas spoke up with slight anger which coated over the confidence in his voice, pulling his arm out of Aria's grasp. He looked sympathetic for us as he spoke back to his girlfriend. "Don't raise your goddamn voice at me! Otherwise you know what I'll do," pure anger took over Aria's oh-so-innocent voice. Lucas hung his head in shame as Aria walked off. "I'm so sorry for what I've done to you, and for what Ari has done as well," Lucas apologised to us leaving us clueless. He continued, "anyway I'll try not to bully you anymore it's just that she knows how to make me angry easy and she manipulates me to make me bully you lot. I-I've said more than I w-was supposed to.. I'll see you later!" Luke's voice filling with worry as he finished what he was saying. Then he ran to Aria who smacked him across the face. "Damn.. I bet he's lying and wants us to be an easier target" Zane wrote on his whiteboard, rolling his eyes as we read it. "I actually believe him, I feel like he's a nice person once you get to know him," Amber said with a hint of sympathy in her voice.

When we got to school Zane and Amber went to their lockers that happened to be right next to each other but was at the other end of the corridor to mine and Tyler's lockers. "What do you think Lucas meant? Like earlier when he said sorry and that Aria made him angry," Tyler asked me while I was swapping my school books. After I swapped them, I slung my bag over my shoulder and made sure the strap wasn't over my hair before answering, "I don't know, probably she drugs him or something. Do you think he's actually going to try and stop bullying us? I mean like he led Zane to self harm when he hasn't even done anything wrong. He only bullies us two but Zane self harmed because of him." We started walking towards Zane and Amber's lockers to see Amber singing and twirling around, and Zane sitting on the floor, wearing ambers beanie. "Woah, Zane's wearing Amy's hat? Has someone annoyed her to the point where she gives her things that no ones allowed to touch to other people?" Tyler joked sarcastically, making us all laugh except for Amber. "Funny," Amber started, squinting her eyes to show she was being sarcastic, "I was going to put my hair up for once so I gave it to Zane cause he wanted to wear it," she finished turning to take a mini-mirror out of her locker. Zane looked up at us then looked down and started scribbling on his whiteboard "I might keep this hat it's nice.. Hopefully she forgets I'm wearing it". Tyler and I laughed under our breath and went to sit next to Zane.
