After Jessica’s and my adventure through the all the rooms on our floor, our parents decided to take us out to eat at a fast- food restaurant close that we wanted to go.

We were about to leave when Jessica’s parents got a call that said that they had to go to their work right away for some reason. So it was only my mom, Jessica, and me going now.

When we were finally sitting in my mom’s SUV, my mom turns around in the driver’s seat and said,” Where do you girls want to go?”

I took a moment to think about where I wanted to go. Jessica blurted out,” McDonalds!”

I gave her a shock expression and said to her,” Out of all the places we could go to, you wanted to go to McDonalds.”

She looked down to the ground. She thought that she had embarrassed herself and then she whispered,” Their French fries and ice cream are really good together.”

I felt bad for her. Her parents aren’t rich like my family is. So that’s probably where they go if they ever get to go out and eat. So I said to her,” Ok. Let’s go to McDonalds.”

My mom put the car in drive and zoomed out of the parking lot. I haven’t been anywhere but in the hospital for the past few months.

I looked out the window, looking at all skyscrapers that seems like they just kept on going up and up and up. We stopped at an intersection.  My mom turned around in her sit and said,” Abigail, look in front of you.”

I turned my neck so I was looking through the windshield. In front of us was the gymnasium that I had competed only a few months ago in. There was a big sign out in front that read,” Abigail, we all hope that you get better very soon.  You are an amazing gymnast and always will be. Hope to see you very soon. From everyone that cares.”

My eyes started to water. I didn’t know that this many people cared about me. I thought that everyone would be thrilled that I was out, so they would have a chance of winning the bigger competitions.

My spirits rise when I thought about it. The light turned green. My mom started to pull forward. I blurted out,” Mom! Can we please stop there?” I pointed towards the gymnasium.

She kept her eyes on the road and steering towards the gymnasium. “Why? It’s probably close.”

"Ya I know. I just need to talk to someone about something.”

My mom parked at one of the pay toll in front of the building. She got out of the car and put a quarter into it. Then walked to the other side of the car. She helped me into the wheelchair. She said to me,” We have about 30 minutes to find the guy.”

My mom wheeled me through the doors of the building with Jessica right behind us. We walked into a room that had one little light glowing in the middle of the room. Then I heard a low humming noise coming from another room.

I pointed to the large doorway that leads to the room. I told Jessica and my mom,” Go through that doorway. That’s where the man is.”

My mom gave me a curious glace. Making sure that I was still sane.

The only reason why she let me come in here because she wants to give me everything I want. Also she feels bad that I won’t be able to do all the other things I could do before. That’s also why she bought me a cellphone.

We walked through the doorway to find a man with a scraggly beard. His face was also all red. He kind of looked like Santa Claus when you think about it.

My mom pulled me towards him when he said,” What are you guys doing here? You guys aren’t allowed here during closed hours.”

“Oh I’m sorry.” I told him. “I just wanted to say that I’m Abigail, the one that you put on the sign. Well I came to tell you thank you and it also means a lot. If you could tell your boss or something I would be very delighted.”
