His Sister, Home.

It had been two long years since Ciel had returned and I had since moved back home. Ciel was still the same as he was when he returned though, reserved. That was an understatement. I was determined though to break that cold exterior he had and finally make him talk to me. It killed me that he was like this, that he was so distant from everyone. Even me. I was his sister and he couldn't even talk to me. It was frustrating. However, he was still my baby brother and I was going to make him smile again, I just had to figure out how first.

I was currently walking down the hallway to my room. I saw Sebastian cleaning something or other down the hall. I don't know what it was about him but he just didn't seem right to me. Why was he here? All I know is that it isn't just to be a butler, there had to be something else. Why wasn't I seeing it, I felt so stupid. I saw Sebastian walking towards me, should I confront him? No, I would wait because i'm sure if I ask him he'd just laugh and say 'of course not miss Jayne. I am simply one hell of a butler'.

"Good afternoon Lady Jayne." Sebastian greeted as he walked by me. "We have guests coming this evening so please put the dress I have selected for you on. It should be on your bed." He smiled.

"Yes, of course. And Sebastian for the thousandth time please just call me Jayne. 'Lady' is too formal for me." I said with a smile as fake as his.

"I'm afraid I can't do that Lady Jayne. Have a good afternoon," and with that he walked around the corner.

I gave an aggravated hiss and slammed my foot to the ground. I know it was a bit childish but, that man got on my nerves and he knew it too. I think he intentionally made me angry just for his amusement. What a jerk. I slowly started to walk back to my room. Once I got there I noticed a red dress laying on my bed. What? Couldn't Sebastian have picked a better color, I hated red. Sir Clause was coming for dinner tonight and i'm sure it was to get more money out of my brother. We already knew he sold the factory, we were just waiting for the right moment to strike. I moved to my vanity table and sat down to brush my long golden locks. I looked just like my mother. Blonde hair, blue eyes.

A knock on the door startled me out of my thoughts. "Miss Jayne, Sebastian sent me to come and get you. Dinner will be served in five minutes, please be ready." May-rin our clumbsy house maid said in her nasally voice. "Thank you, May-rin. I'll be ready." To be honest we had become pretty close friends May-rin and I. It was like that with all of the servants, I liked them all. Well except Sebastian.

Dinner was being served out in the courtyard. That was interesting, we rarely dinned out here. By the looks of it, Finnian, had destroyed all of the plants so Sebastian of course, had to fix it. It was a stone garden, I think it was called. I liked it, i should ask Ciel if we could keep it.

"Ahh, Ciel who is dis lovely young woman," a middle age looking man sitting on the other end of the table from Ciel asked. This must be Sir Clause.

"This is my sister Jayne Lyn Phantomhive." Ciel said without any real emotion, what a shocker there.

"Oh, well it is very nice to meet you Jayne. My name is Sir Clause." he smiled. Why was he here if he was going to waste Ciel's time. All he wanted was money, he knew that, I knew that and Ciel knew that. I wouldn't be surprised if Sebastian knew it too.

"On tonight's menu is a dish of finely sliced raw beef donburi courtisy of our chef Bardroy." Bardroy made this? Knowing him I bet he burnt the meat and Sebastian just made him slice off the savable parts and layer it in a bowl.

"A pile of raw beef.....and this is dinner?" What an ungratefully guest he is.

"Yes have'nt you herd of it?" I stopped listening to Sebastian after that. I didn't really care about the history of the dish, I just wanted to eat it because the quicker the we get this dinner over with the quicker he leaves. I looked beside me at Ciel, he didn't seem to be listening either. I looked down at my plate, it didn't look very appetising to me but I guess i'll try it. It wasn't bad, surprising. Dinner went by uneventful, May-rin spilled wine all over the table cloth and Sebastian fixed it, nothing much really.

After I finished eating I excused myself to my room. It was too early to go to bed but, it was too late to go out. Oh well, I guess I would lay in bed I was a little tired. I took that horrid dress off before I slipped into my night clothes and into the bed. I must have been more tired then I had originally thought because as soon my head hit the pillow, I was asleep.

A frightful scream in the hallway woke me from my slumber. How long had I been asleep? That didn't matter at the moment. Who was that? It sounded a little like a pig. I swung my legs over the side of my bed, the floor was cold on my bare feet. I slowly walked on tipped toes over to the door and opened it. The hallways was empty, I must be hearing things. But I could have sworn I had heard something. Maybe a glass of water and a little walk would clear my head a little. Was this house always this creepy? A shudder passed through my body as I thought of all the things that could be waiting in the shadows.

I was halfway to the kitchen when I ran into Sebastian. Literally. I fell to the ground with a thud, ow. I looked up at Sebastian, his eyes seemed to glow in the darkness that surrounded us. His head was cocked to the right and he had a devilish smirk on his face. I realized then how short my nightdress was and on top of that it had risen up my legs when, I had fallen. He held out his hand to me,

"Miss Jayne, what are you doing out of bed?"

"I heard someone screaming." I said standing up careful not to show more than I had to, ignoring Sebastian's hand.

"Screaming? You must be hearing things then because their is no one here miss." He replied leading me back to my room. "Allow me to escort you to your room,"

"I'm fine really, I can get there on my own. Thanks."

"I insist." There it was, that stupid fake smile again.

"Fine,"

The walk back to my room was silent. The candle light coming off of the candelabra cast distorted shadows on the walls. I walked closer to Sebastian then I had intended but, it was scary here. I'm glad Sebastian insisted on walking me to my room. I hadn't realized that we had reached my room until Sebastian spoke.

Goodnight, miss Phantomhive," I hadn't even realized we had stopped, or that I was holding onto Sebastian's arm. I let it go and mumbled a quiet apology as I stepped into my room. Goodnight, Sebastian." I said quietly as I watched the black butler walk down the dark hallway before I closed the door and fell back to sleep.
