Something Worth Saving

Chapter 5

I felt bad about killing Trip so here's another update.

Skye beat the bars in front of her as hard as she could, trying to get out of her cell.

"It's no use," a voice came from the corner of her cell. "You won't be able to get out."

Skye sighed and sunk to the ground. "What are they going to do to us?"

The man shrugged, "they're taking us away tomorrow to 'change our lives' as Cal put it."

"Cal?"

"He's the one in charge around here. He said he's working with some organization called Hydra to help them recruit members. In return, they're helping him find his daughter." Skye raised an eyebrow and the man shrugged. "He's chatty. I take it Cal's not the one who took you in?"

"Raina," Skye explained.

He nodded in understanding. "She's his right hand man. I'm Lincoln, by the way."

"Skye," she gave him a small smile. "How long have you been in here?"

"Just about a week. They took both me and my brother, but they killed him."

Skye frowned. "I'm sorry. They killed my partner too. It's my fault, they were looking for me. Maybe if I had just gone alone then they wouldn't have killed him-"

"Hey," he reached out touched her shoulder, "there's no use in dwelling on the 'what ifs' you'll just drive yourself crazy."

Skye chuckled bitterly. "I guess you're right."

"You found her?"

Fitz nodded as Coulson came up behind him. Fitz pointed at the computer. "She should be there. We had a tracker placed on all of your headsets before you left. My guess is that she was wearing the headset when they took her. I'm positive it's off now, but it should at least be in the building."

"Can you zoom in on the building?"

"That's the problem, sir," Fitz said as he zoomed in. "We know exactly which Hydra base this is."

"Headquarters," Coulson said darkly through gritted teeth. "There's no way we can do this without reinforcements."

"We don't have very many agents anymore, sir," Fitz said, eyebrows furrowing together in confusion.

Coulson sighed. "That's why I need the Avengers." He pulled out his phone and dialed the number. "Strike Team Delta. Good to hear your voices again. Before you get mad, I promise I can explain everything. I just need you to bring the rest of the Avengers and meet me at the Playground." He hung up and then turned to Fitz. "Go tell May we're expecting company."
