Chapter 17

*one week later*

"Are you ready to start?" Katrina directed at Skye and Lincoln as the three stood in a room with locked doors, so they could practice controlling their powers.

"Let's do this thing," Skye grinned.

"First tell me what you're feeling. Normally you can feel the powers inside your body, so what do you feel?"

"I had this constant buzzing in my head," Lincoln spoke up, "it never stopped until I used my powers to revive one of their agents. I shocked his heart to revive him." He held up his fingers and a few sparks bounced around the tips before fizzling out.

"So electricity..." Katrina said in thought. She turned to Skye. "How about you?"

"Everything is constantly shaking," Skye explained. "My heart beats twice the speed and unless I concentrate really hard, everything around me shakes."

"Interesting," Katrina said with a smile as she tried to think of the power Skye might have. "If Lincoln and I leave the room, do you think you could try and use your power?"

Skye shrugged, "I guess I could try."

Katrina nodded and ushered Lincoln out the door, closing it behind them and looking through the glass window.

Skye took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She held out her arms and she concentrated as hard as she could on the mug in front of her. Before she knew it, the mug in front of her shattered, spilling its contents on the floor.

Katrina grinned and re-opened the door, letting herself and Lincoln back inside. "So, vibrations, then."

"Looks like it," Skye commented as she tried to brush the coffee off of her pants.

Katrina chuckled and dismissed her, letting her go change her clothes before they continued. She turned to Lincoln. "How much control do you have over your powers?"

He scrunched up his face and shrugged. "I guess more than Skye does, seeing as how I revived Ward and didn't end up killing him."

"Alright," Katrina nodded in thought, "I'm going to do the same thing with you like I did with Skye. If your powers are electricity, you should be able to pull some of the electric currents is the air. Show me what you can do," she finished with a nod. She walked out of the room and watched him through the window.

Lincoln took a deep breath and concentrated just as he did with Ward. He felt the buzz and crackle of the electricity in the air and felt the current surge through his fingers. He opened his eyes and watched in fascination as a lighting bolt formed around him. He closed his eyes and concentrated again, willing the bolt away. He turned to Katrina and grinned. "How was that?"

"Impressive."

"Really think so?"

She nodded, "yeah, with a little practice I think you'll be more powerful than Hydra thought."

"Sorry to interrupt," Skye knocked on the door as she walked back in. "But Coulson needs me to go to a briefing so can we continue this later?"

"Of course. What should we do?"

"You can come with if you want, it's not anything top secret right now. I'll lead the way."

"Oh good," Coulson commented as Katrina walked in, "I was about to send someone to get you."

"Me?"

Coulson nodded. "I'll explain in a moment." He waited patiently for Hunter and Mack to join the group before starting. "Last week we tracked down Katrina Tucker after we found out that Hydra was hunting her," Coulson pointed to Katrina. "Using the list that Skye found, we've managed to track down the next person on the list."

"And that is?" May asked.

"Thomas Reynolds," Coulson pulled up a picture on the screen. "He'll be at a gala tomorrow evening at his brother's mansion. I'm sending in a two man team to find him before Hydra does. Katrina," he turned to her, "I want you to be one of those men."

Katrina's eyes bugged out. "Me?"

Coulson nodded. "You can sense Inhumans. If you go in, you might be able to detect him before Hydra does. I'll be sending in a field agent with you to keep you safe. You'll have nothing to worry about," he reassured her.

She nodded apprehensively, "if you're sure. I mean, this team does have an alarming lack of redheads," she cracked a smile. "Who are you sending in with me?"

Coulson took a deep breath before answering. "Grant Ward," he pointed to Ward on the other side of the room.

Ward raised his eyebrows before nodding in agreement.

"You'll be going undercover as newlyweds, that way you won't have to leave his side."

"Ok," Katrina took a deep breath, "lets do this."
