CHAPTER EIGHT

February 18, 2015

When Zacchya woke up, she found herself strapped to a lightly padded metal chair, with straps around her wrists, ankles, and waist. She had seen a chair like it before at Sunnyvale.  Sunnyvale was the mental hospital she was in for a few months after she tried to commit suicide at Jacob's funeral.  They called it a restraint chair and it was used for the patients that were too violent and/or a danger to themselves or others.  Every muscle, fiber, and bone in her body ached.  The cuts on her arms were oozing blood.  She must have put up a damn good fight to be hurting that much.

She remembered seeing Larry's disgusting, smug face and her mind snapped.  Every bad memory she'd had about him flooded her at once. She remembered kicking, screaming, scratching, and clawing to get out of there.  But Ben had been too strong.  She didn't know how Larry was alive, or why God would let anyone that evil live.  All she knew was that she hated him with every cell in her body.  She'd rather die than be near him again.  In that smug smile, she could once again feel his breath on her skin and his hands on her body.  She couldn't handle it.  She longed to forget all that he had done to her, like she had before.  The molestation was something that she was not ready to, nor able to, deal with.  She liked to be honest with herself always, except when it came to that topic.  She could have gone her whole life not knowing that her uncle abused her mentally, emotionally, and sexually.  She had been a girl of innocence and virginity, and he abused her, took advantage of it all.

How could he do that to her? How could anyone do that to another person?  She'd never understand it as long as she was alive.  He was supposed to be there, support her, and love her unconditionally. That's what family was supposed to do.  He had done none of that.  He professed a deep hatred toward her, but she had no idea why.  He'd lied to her for her entire life.  He pretended to love and care for her, but it was all a ruse.  He had bigger plans for her: brainwash her, have her kill Jacob, get depressed, try to kill herself at Jacob's funeral, and then even more depression and suicide attempts... and for what? What was the point of it all? Was there a reason he chose to torture her in that way? Did it serve a bigger purpose? Would she even care if she found out why?  She couldn't imagine a way to forgive him, no matter what sob story he gave her.  The damage had been done.  There was no forgiving or repairing of their relationship.

She leaned her head back in the chair, and regretted it as soon as she did.  She'd forgotten about her head wound.  She guessed it was from when she was kidnapped, but had no way to be sure. It was a small, round wound, very tender to the touch, and starting to scab over.  She figured during the scuffle, it got re-bumped.

The door to her cell opened, Tyrell and Ben walked inside.  Tyrell was shaking his head disapprovingly.

"You've been a bad girl, Zacchya.  You promised me that you would be good.  And you broke that promise," Tyrell said as he walked towards her.  His dark eyes were full of cool anger, making her spine shiver. "Promises mean a lot to me. You can only take a man, or woman, at his/her word.  If you don't back up your actions, I can't trust you."

"You could have warned me! I hate him more than anyone in the whole world!" she shouted.

"I suppose, but now we have to explain why you and Jacob were taken." Tyrell said. A moment later, Dustin Taylor, the other man she'd met previously, was walking Jacob into her cell. He left Jacob in the cell and locked the door behind him, exiting.

"Zacchya!" Jacob shouted in angry surprise.  "Why is she restrained?"

"She was a bad girl, Jacob.  Consequences come to all actions, don't forget that." Tyrell stated.  "Have a seat so we can begin the de-briefing."
