CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN
March 15, 2015
There was a joint funeral for April, Tim, and Patty. It brought in a very large crowd, since it was for three people. Tim's parents made a very touching speech that brought almost everyone to tears.
Bobby had thought that maybe for once, they might have realized they actually loved their son. They had never treated Tim with love or care, which Bobby took very personally, having a terrible father himself. He was sitting next to Trina, holding her hand and trying not to cry. The group had yet again been cut down by death. The Misfits had gone from eight to four in less than two years. Clearly, they were cursed or something. Bobby thought it might be something more. He slipped Trevor a note as he headed to his black Mustang.
"Wh ..." Trevor started.
"I'll see you at school tomorrow, dude," Bobby pointed at the noted, a finger to his lips, and walked away.
Trevor, confused by Bobby's actions, read the note:
Don't say anything out loud. Meet me at Jake's cabin thing. Leave your phone in the car. Bring NOTHING except you and Alicia.
Trevor was not in the mood for stupid games. Two of his best friends were dead, wasn't there a better time to meet up? He grumbled to himself and let Alicia read the note. They had patched some things in their relationship, and were working on being friends again, especially after all the recent deaths.
"Seriously?" she asked, annoyed.
"Let's just go, OK, and get it over with," Trevor shrugged.
Alicia rolled her eyes, feeling exactly as Trevor did, annoyed but would rather tell Bobby to his face. They drove do the road on the outskirts of town, leaving their phones in the car. Bobby's car was already parked on the dirt shoulder.
"I'm going to punch him, Trev, I swear! To do this crap today of all days!" Alicia grumbled, pulling her coat tighter around her body. The air was still quite cool and she'd never liked the cold. Plus, she was grieving and wanted to go hide out in her bedroom, alone, not have some stupid meeting about God knows what.
"I'll probably hit him first," Trevor forced a smile. He had been having a hard time since Zacchya's death. There was a hole in his heart that he doubted would ever fill. He had tried his hardest to put on a smile and pretend that he was OK, but he wasn't sure how long he could take it.
They made it Jake's old cabin, where Jake had stayed when drugged by Larry while the town presumed he was dead. Bobby and Trina were already inside, sitting on the dusty mattress. The cabin was cool, but not horribly uncomfortable. There were a few chairs sitting a few feet from the bed.
Bobby stood immediately after seeing them enter. He put a finger to his lips. "Sshh!" He held up a piece of paper that read: "All clothes except underwear outside! Then we talk!"
Alicia's eyes widened in fury, "Oh, hell no!"
"Then leave!" Bobby growled at her.
Alicia looked frustrated and hurt. She contemplated punching him in the face, or just leaving. But curiosity alone led her to strip down. She had to know what was so important to call a half-naked meeting after a funeral. Bobby was an idiot, and could be a jackass at times, but he wouldn't call a meeting after their best friends' funerals if it wasn't important.
Everyone stripped down and Bobby threw the clothes piles outside, about ten yards from the cabin. Once he was back inside, staring at three cold, frustrated people, he spoke.
