DAY 02, WEEK 01

"Are you up there?" I heard Karry call out to me from the balcony.

"Yes, I always am. Where else can I be?"

"It's not okay for a girl to sleep on the roof."

"No one can see me anyways." I said, landing swiftly on his balcony beside him.

"It's still not appropriate."

"Then where else am I supposed to stay?" I asked, then realized what Karry might have been implying, my face grew red again.

"I don't mean that you have to stay in my closet like Doraemon but, maybe you can stay in the house. Since my parents can't see you and all."

"You mean the couch." My heart felt relief yet a little bit of disappointment.

"That's not good either."

"Then what do you want me to do? You can't sleep on the couch, I don't want you to and your parents will think you're bonkers."

"What I'm saying is, you can stay in my room. I have a folded up mattress in my closet, I'll sleep on that."

"No." I said immediately, "No, this is your room. I'll sleep on the mattress."

"But-"

"No, buts." I stopped him. "I'll wait for you outside again."

Then I flew to the gate as usual. I waited for him and he came out with a plastic bag at hand.

"I was wondering if ghosts, I mean, guardian angels eat."

"I'll try." I answered.

He held the bun out to me and I could hold it in my hands but when I ate it, I felt like puking. Karry tried to help me but I held a hand up to him. I passed the bun to him then flew into the toilet in his house and vomited, though there was not much to let out.

"I'm sorry, I did not know."

"That's why we did it, to know. That tasted like vomit."

"But it tastes fine to me." He said and took a bite of it.

"I bit it, you know." My face was slightly red.

"You're my guardian angel, it's fine."

I nodded then walked next to him on his way to school.

"Maybe if you wanted to talk to me in public, you can pretend to be on your phone."

"Or you can just let people see you." He said looking at her in the eye. "Can't you?"

"But your friends will get curious if they see me."

"You can go to school with me."

"Do you read fanfiction about yourself? I don't have money."

"Use magic and yes, I do. My fans put effort into them after all. I never knew that girls were like that."

"Not all are like that and I don't even know if I can, I can't touch humans. See?" I waved my hand right through some random passer-by.

"You tried?"

"Yes. I was trying to help," I stopped a little, "an old lady."

"They wouldn't find out."

"I don't want to risk it."

"Fine. Then, I don't care if my friends ask about you. I'll make it up."

I kept quiet. I did not tell him why I did not want to let people see me. He came up with a reason that I had to cope with in the end. I could not stop him from making me visible.
