I'm coming to you this week with another themed chapter! From the title I'm sure you can all tell that it is succulents!

Let's start with a vocab lesson. For those of you who may not know what succulents are, a succulent is defined in botany as "a plant that has some parts that are more than normally thickened and fleshy, usually to retain water in arid climates or soil conditions." Some examples of succulents are cacti and jade plants. They can be found at stores like Home Depot or Lowe's in the gardening section, in a variety of sizes, specimens, and prices. This week's themed DIYs focus on using succulents to spruce up and room, and how to enhance their beauty in a range of rooms!

1: Succulents minus the succulents! A cheap and simple alternative to the traditional succulent plant.

2: Aloe Vera pun pot! Aloe Vera is not typically considered a succulent, but this was too funny and cute, I just had to add it here! Aloe Vera is known for its healing remedies against sunburns, perfect for the summer!

3: Cat planter. This one also is not specific to succulents, but I can totally see a cute little cactus in this thing! And don't be afraid to try other animals, like a brown bear, or a pastel colored panda!

4: Cactus pincushion! Not super difficult, and is not only a great decor piece, but also functional! Plant in a mini terra-cotta pot from Home Depot, and you have yourself a perfect craft room project!

5: Last but not least, succulent planters. Use white planters and some acrylic or spray paint, using masking tape to cover up sections to create these cool, color-block type patterns. Add stripes or dots using a second color or a paint pen, use an outdoor friendly varnish (I recommend the spray kind), and you're good to go! If you are keeping these indoors, no need to use an outdoor friendly varnish.
