10.
As Liam heard the front door softly click shut, all eyes on the room were settled on Zayn, whose deep brown orbs were glued to his phone screen once more. Liam, Harry, and Niall all had scowls on their faces, their eyes boring into Zayn. Zayn cleared his throat and glanced up, doing a double-take from his phone to the lads.
"What?" He accused, crossing his left arm over his chest as his right arm was lazily holding up his phone. Niall came stomping over towards Zayn and snatched his phone out from his hands, shoving it into the back pocket of his sweats, walking backwards just in case so that Zayn wouldn't have an advantage of grabbing his phone back.
"Why're you so cold against Blythe?" Harry asked, his voice harder than it usually was. Zayn rolled his eyes and rested his right arm against his left, snuggling deep into the couch. He knew that this was just something that they'd all forget about in a few minutes as Zayn was ready to defeat them in an weak argument.
"I'm not." Zayn replied casually, shrugging as well. Liam scoffed quietly, even him sensing that Zayn was being rude. Harry rolled his eyes noticeably, shaking his head as he was a bit disappointed in Zayn's behavior.
"A few days ago you acted fine when Blythe was with us for dinner, that you even silently hinted for her number," Liam started to explain, looking at Zayn with a serious expression on his face. Niall nodded at Zayn, agreeing to everything that Liam said so far, as Liam always knew what to say. Zayn tried his best to look having to ignore Liam, but he could feel Harry's glare traveling through his skull that he felt it was rude for having to ignore.
"-and now starting today, you're being rude to her." Niall finished Liam's sentence which slightly surprised Zayn as he thought that Niall hadn't sensed any of this. Zayn cleared his throat and straightened his back, sitting upright on the couch. He clapped his hands together and looked at each individual boy for a second before answering.
"I'm not being rude, I just think that maybe she could be, I don't know, a threat to the group." Zayn finally spoke, shrugging again as he wasn't exactly sure on his answer. He did admit to himself that he was being slightly rude to her, but he did also admit that she could be a threat to the group. What if she was some super crazed fan that would manipulate them? Or what if she started dating one of the lads, slowly tearing them up? Zayn couldn't allow that. He had to stand his ground as no one else in the group did. But at the same time, he saw as Blythe as almost a little animal of some sort that does no harm, but also has no meaning.
"How can she be a threat?" Harry wailed, obviously fed up with Zayn. Harry slapped his hands to his knees and jumped up, cowering over Zayn before pacing around the connected rooms. Zayn's eyes followed Harry as he circled the kitchen island and paced back and forth behind the couch, muttering nonsense under his breath.
"She's a nice-"
"-and cute!" Niall butted in as Harry started, feeling the need to add that in. Harry looked at Niall in confusion for a second before continuing on.
"She's a nice, and cute girl who means no harm. She's fun to be around Zayn, and she seems that she likes to be around us too. Don't you see how she acts around us?" Harry ranted, finally stopping the pacing to look at Zayn thoughtfully. Zayn was speechless as nothing bore into his mind. Harry's face was now slightly beginning to heat up and redden from the complete and utter ignorance Zayn was showing that Harry finally had enough. This conversation was only being allowed to have one winner, and that winner was obviously Harry, Niall's, and Liam's opinion on Blythe, and Harry was sure to bet that Louis would agree.
"She acts like a normal girl Zayn, a normal girl! Not those girls who scream and cry in our faces, longing to have just a small quick chat with them. She's comfortable around us Zayn, something that we hadn't had the chance to have since we've been getting more known." Liam finished, feeling content on the way he argumented. Niall and Harry nodded fervently at Liam, completely agreeing on what he said. All three boys looked at Zayn who stayed silent, his eyes averted to the floor awkwardly.
