"Feel free to sit down and to not touch anything!" Blythe called out from the hallway as Zayn sat on the couch.
"Oh, so you don't trust me with any valuables?" Zayn asked, with light humor in his voice. He saw Blythe's head pop out from the doorframe.
"Sorry, I forgot you weren't Harry." She said with a smile. Zayn laughed as she closed the door to the bathroom. Now, it was time for business.
Zayn thoroughly went over this. Neither Blythe nor Zayn agreed on no 'snooping'. Basically, Zayn was just searching for information about Blythe and her family. If Janika and Adande were her true family. No harm done. The only harm, was that Blythe would find out about him snooping, meaning that he had to think fast. It was as if Zayn became James Bond, or Sherlock Holmes. A new mind was set in his head. He wasn't Zayn Malik anymore, but Agent Malik double-oh-three. At least that's what Zayn thought.
What could Zayn investigate first? He knew from past experience that girls took their time in the bathroom. Meaning with taking off makeup, it could take ten to fifteen minutes maximum. Meaning that he had sometime between seven to thirteen minutes of investigating.
"If I was something private, where would I hide?" He mumbled to himself, tapping his chin. He scoped the living-room with hawk-like eyes, eyeing everything in-sight. The first thing that caught his eye was a white box, with a blue ribbon beside the large bookcase. Anyone would have easily missed the box, as it was so miniscule to the massive bookcase. But when Zayn was in detective mode, it was like night-vision goggles shielded his eyes.
Zayn made a beeline to the box and quietly opened it. It was nothing he expected. Just a pair of blue heels that was a gift, considering the blue ribbon. Zayn sighed and closed the box, standing up and examining the room once more. Zayn was specifically looking for 'adoption papers', of course, if Blythe was really adopted. In which he inferred that she was. Maybe Blythe was right, that Zayn was a 'smart-ass' for making assumptions on the spot. Good thing he was a hot-looking smartass, Zayn thought with a malicious smile.
Quietly as a mouse, he slowly made his way down the hallway, past the bathroom where he heard loud music, and softly opened the bedroom door. It was a typical teenage-girls room. A large bed (with purple covers), loads of pillows (specifically green, purple, and white) a desk, closet, skylight windows, a closet, and other insignificant things. Zayn quickly made his way over to Blythe's desk. Opening the drawers one-by-one, he carefully lifted all the books and papers. There weren't any folders, nor any suspicious papers. Zayn's heart sank to his stomach.
After two minutes of silent trashing, Zayn stood up, his eyes darting to the bottom of her bed. It was as if Jesus came down from above and brought him a gift. He dove under the bed and searched around. Fiddling his way to the headboard of the under the bed, he found a large, brown box, marked 'Thorne'. He knew BLythe's surname wasn't Thorne, but perhaps it was her adoptive family's? Zayn grabbed the box by the sides, and wriggled out from under the bed. Sitting comfortably on his knees, he hunched over and opened the box carefully. There, revealed many different pictures of Blythe's adoptive family. The pictures including Janika (of which he met), Adande, Ayana, and others of which he didn't know.
He shuffled through more of the pictures, until he came across a particular one. The picture was placed on the beach. Sand was everywhere, and in the background, was a grassy hill, and then a beach-house.
A (white) couple were standing together, the man's arm around his wife's Zayn assumed the women being the man's wife. Sandwiched inbetween the couple was a young girl. The young girl's face closely resembled Blythe's. She wore a red sundress, and her chestnut brown hair flowed around her stomach. Zayn flipped over the picture, to see scraggly writing written in a black marker on the back.
