I sprinted to my room and quickly pulled out my phone. I received a few texts, but I didn't bother to check who they were from. Eh, I'd check them later I thought. My main goal was to tell Briana everything. Setting that aside, I quickly dialed Briana's number, plopping onto my bed. It made an abnormal creaky noise as I managed to get comfortable. Maybe it's time to get a new bed?
The dial tone filled my ear until I heard a voice. "HELLO? OH MY GOD, RACHEL?! THE DATE. TELL ME EVERYTHING!!" In the background was an authoritative voice telling her to quiet down, her mother.
"BRIANA! HEY! GUESS FREAKING WHAT??!!" I screeched uneasily. I began to punch a pillow out of excitement in a steady tempo.
"HMMMM, SOMEONE'S IN A GOOD MOOD, HOW WAS YOUR DATE?!" Briana shouted back. The same voice in the background raised telling her to shut up. She didn't care, she was impatient for the details. And I know what she was dying to find out.
I rolled over in my bed and let out a tiny shrill. "I'LL TELL YOU AS SOON AS YOU COME OVER BECAUSE I WANT TO TELL YOU IN PERSON!" I rambled so quickly to the point where it sounded like I said something in Chinese. Must've been the tea.
"UGH WHY RACHEL??" Briana whined, "WHY CAN'T YOU JUST TELL ME ON THE PHONE?"
I heard a "Briana, simmer down," from her mom.
I pressed my free hand to my forehead. "THERE'S A LOT TO SAY SO JUST COME OVER OKAY, DON'T BE DIFFICULT WITH ME.." I said, exasperated.
"BUT DID YOU AND ASHTON KISS??!" Briana's voice was high, almost nervous.
There it was. The number one, big, major question. It was inevitable and given; anyone and everyone would ask it. The problem is sharing it.
I sighed. "Well, you can come over and find out so..."
"Does it sound like I want to walk?" Briana was close to making up excuses. Laziness had the best of her.
"Laziness will not get you anywhere," I pointed out in a melodramatic tone.
"Don't even pull that crap on me, Rachel." She mocked.
"Want to know the details or not?" I sang melodically.
"OR NAAAAAAAH," Briana bursted. It was from Vine, an app she was always on. She was always quoting Vines, which I quickly grew tired of after a week.
"Sooooo, you can come over and find out the details now," stating as the obvious choice, "or find out later when Kam comes back so I can tell you both at the same time??"
I let her think for a couple of seconds. But she still didn't budge.
"You decide, clock's ticking." I got up and walked to my bedroom window. Looking out, I saw kids in the street riding their bikes and a dog running about in my neighbor's yard. I remember when Luke and I rode bikes when we were kids. We never strayed too far, but we didn't stay leashed down either. The usual spot we'd ride to was the local park. It was where we'd play on the swings and playground. We even wrote our names there too. You know, scrawny, illegible child's handwriting? But it's probably faded away by now. We'd also have races with other kids in our neighborhood, and well, I always lost. I wasn't exactly 'speedy' but I wasn't a 'slow-poke.' Luke didn't win though, but some kid named Rodney. I wonder where he is now...
There was a brief pause, but I could feel her roll her eyes, even if I wasn't there with her. "Fine, but I expect some food while I'm there!"
"Of course, I'll stick a pizza in the oven, and thank you, you know I love you." Food, preferably pizza, would get her to do something.
