It's All Over Now,Baby Blue
New York,1965
I woke up to someone knocking on my door. I looked at the time and it was around two in the morning. I groaned and got up from the couch when I heard the lock turning. I knitted my eyebrows together,Who had a key to my apartment? I awaited the person's presence in silence and anticipation. A familiar curly haired silhouette emerged from the hall. "Bobbie!" I yelled, hugging him tightly. He gave a slight kiss to my cheek and I let go of him. "Do you have any idea what time it is?" I exclaimed, sounding like my mother. He shrugged. "Did you lose your voice?" He had just come back from tour,so it was a likely possibility. The kitchen/ living room I had in my apartment was dimly lit from the overhead stove light. "Slightly, yes." He smiled,I knew him too well. He sounded awful,I doubt he would even have a voice in five years. I flipped my kitchen light on and sighed,"You push yourself too hard." I lectured as I made him some tea. He talked quietly as I boiled some water and got out the tea bags. I poured the hot water over the tea bag in the large cup, then poured a large glob of honey in. I mixed it with a spoon and gave him the cup. "Thank you." He smiled after taking a large gulp, and slowly swallowing it. "Mmmm." He smiled after he swallowed. I smiled at him, he always knew how to make me laugh. Bob and I had been friend for a few years, and I met him in 1960 when he was on his way to see Woody Guthrie in the hospital. Almost a year ago he confessed his love for me,saying he had never seen a more beautiful soul than mine. He was a real good sweet talker,so I had always hoped he meant it. "So how was the office, boring as usual?" He asked. I dreaded talking about my boring job,I would much rather talk about his fun tour stories. "Of course, boss wouldn't have it any other way." I joked. "I never longed for the nine to five jobs." "Neither did I,but my mother made me take this job." I sighed. "Forget about your boring job and come on tour with me in a few months." "The offer is sounding better and better everyday." "Then let's go,I would love to have my babe on tour with me!" He joked. We agreed on not calling each other things like babe, baby, and honey. "What will I do with my apartment?" "Come live with me!" "I don't know...I mean we've only been together for a year." "Let one of your friends stay in it until you back then." "And quit my job!?" "Actually...I don't care about my job." I chuckled. "And you're a great singer, you can sing with me!" "You know I have stage fright." "You can get over it." "Alright,i'll go." "Good." He kissed my cheek and set his cup in the sink. "Does your throat feel better?" "Much better, thank you." He smiled. We went to my room and laid in my bed,I know he was exhausted. "Thank god you're here,I haven't had a good night's sleep since you left." He smiled and pulled me into him. We cuddled, and I slowly fell asleep. When I woke up Bob was snoring quietly, his curly hair ruffled. I smiled and quietly got out of bed. I changed into some clothes and made us breakfast. "Whatcha' makin?" He asked in his adorable accent. "Eggs, and pancakes." I smiled. "I would help if I could make food." He chuckled. "It's okay,I made you more tea too." "You're definitely going on tour with me,keep my ass in check." He joked. He cracks me up... "You're too cute." I grinned. We ate breakfast and talked, giggling and joking.
