Hunt III: Demon Hunting

It had been one month since ma and Yucca had been studying the basics of Demon hunting. We still weren't allowed to take on missions. yet so we haven't had any chance to hunt real Demons just yet. Today, however, was different, though, we were going on a field trip today with some of the senior Demon Hunters. 

"Yucca, aren't you excited, we finally get to go into the fields for once. I can't wait!" Rose said full of excitement. 

"Yea, and are we suppose to bring our weapons?"

"Yeah, they've paired us up with four of the seniors who use weapons close to ours. It's sad that all the Scythe users are all on solo missions." Rose grabbed her Scythe and placed it in its holster on her back. Her scythe was a ruby color with black handgrips and a black and red blade. 

"You bringing your weapon Yucca?"

Yucca had already grabbed her sword, it was a Rapier crossed double-edged straight sword hybrid. It had the slender form of a rapier and the sharp slashing edges of a straight sword. 

"Yep, are you ready to go?" Yucca had sheathed her blade and attaches it to the belt strap on her hip. 

Then one of the senior Hunters; a girl; entered their room. She had short black hair and light blue eyes. She was the Hunter in place of the scythe Hunter, she used a metal staff which was about the same length of her body. She asked us if we were ready to go, and then we all left on our trip. 

After about an hour of travel, we arrived at one of the smaller hunting grounds. There were four senior Hunters and sixteen freshmen. We were split up into two groups and we were shown the basic hunting techniques by them. Me and Yucca's group were assigned to had, the girl with the staff and a boy who uses a hand in a half sword. 

"closely kids this is how a senior Hunter fights." Says the girl with the staff as she charges into a small group of goblins.

"Look at her go, she's barely moving her body but she's covering so much ground with her weapon," I say to Yucca.

Then suddenly the senior was sent flying, and the senior with the sword charged at the Demon that attacked his partner; it was a Troll. Yucca was watching the senior as he attacked with his sword; studying his movements. He defeated the troll with ease, then he went to tend to his partner. 

"And that freshmen is why we don't show off," he said mocking his partner. She responded saying she wasn't showing off, she just got off balance. Then they laughed and went back to address the group. 

"Remember to always have a strong guard and keep your center of balance stable, and to never let your opponent get the better of you." The sword using senior said.

"and always make sure to keep a level head, brute force won't always lead to victory. The smallest mistake can shift the flow of battle in an instant." said the senior with the staff.

"Now, since you all did so well how about we take you to the freshmen Hunting grounds for a little fun?" said the girl senior, everyone was excited about finally getting to hunt some demons for once instead of just reading about them.

It didn't take to long to get to the freshmen hunting grounds, it was about 10 minutes from the seniors hunting grounds. The Freshmen grounds were a little smaller and consisted of mostly; Bug Bears, Goblins, and rather big bugs. Yucca wasn't very big spiders, I didn't like the big butterflies, there are just somethings that shouldn't be big. They were harmless but just really creepy to look at. 

"Well, Yucca are you still having fun?" I turn to ask her, but she wasn't there. Suddenly I heard a scream come from the direction I turned to and I ran towards it. 

"Rose help! I was fighting these goblins and some Hobbe Goblins came and they knocked my Rapier out of my hand." she was panicking, without thinking I charged in with my scythe.

I make a path to Yucca grabbing her Rapier and handing it back to her.

"Yucca sometimes I wonder why I teamed up with you."

"Really, why? Do you not like being my partner?"

"I'm always going to be your partner. After all, you always know how to make the simplest task so much fun."

We charged at the horde of Goblins and began to cut them down. We took a few hits, nothing we couldn't take it through.

After about an hour or so had passed by, we had dealt with about 50 Goblins. Yucca and I were so exhausted we just kinda fell over and laid down on the ground. Yucca had laid beside me and tears had begun to form in her eyes.

"What's the matter Yucca?" I ask her looking at the wound that was on the bridge of her nose.

"You got hurt because of me... I'm sorry Rose," she said wiping the blood from the wound by my eye.

We had both gotten scars, Yucca had one on the bridge of her nose, and I had one on the left side of my face by my eye.

"Yucca you two scars on your face now, I'm so sorry. I should have tried harder to protect you."

"No, I should've it's my fault, not yours. Now your face has a scar on it."

Yucca placed her hand lightly on my face and we stayed like this until the seniors came to get us.
