I hadn't in a million years believed I was capable of doing something as stupid as what I was in the middle of doing at this very moment. The cold air bites at my skin as I climbed down the side of the kingdom of Erebor newly reclaimed by Thorin Oakenshield and his companions including myself. My stupid self. Why might you ask am I being stupid? Well I loved the king under the mountain so much I decided it wise to take the jewel that symbolized his right to rule and hand it over to 2 men he had just declared war upon. Thorin had been consumed by a sickness of the mind. Dragon sickness. This wasn't the Thorin that lost his way finding the home of our burglar or the Thorin I came to know and love. This is why I had to do this no matter how idiotic it was. Dale was filled with elves of mirkwood and men from Laketown. I tiptoed through the rows of tents until I found Bard, Gandalf, and the Elven king standing around a small wooden table. I sighed and ran in only to be stopped by elven guards. "Halt she-dwarf" one of them hissed. I glared up at the towering elf. "I'm NOT a she-dwarf for the gazillionth time. I'm a human and I'm not that short!" I grumble. "Gandalf!" I cry in relief. The king nods and I am released from the guards grasp. I run to the wizard and engulf him in a hug. "My dear I have never been happier to see anyone in my life. How are you?" He asks fondly. "Fine fine", I brush off, "Thorin however...The sickness...the treasure...has taken his mind. I think I have a plan to make him see reason. A stupid plan but I think it might be our only hope to avoid unneeded blood to be spilled" I say with determination. "And what is this great plan of yours?" Thranduil asks incredulously. I look at each of the men before pulling the Kings jewel, the Arkenstone itself, out  from the top of my dress. Blushing I set it down and look at the shock that came over the faces of Bard and the Elven King. "You...This..." Thranduil trust to find words. "(Y/N)...Are you sure this will work? It might only anger Thorin" Bard says concerned. "No I am not sure but I couldn't sit around and watch the man I-... I mean my companion fall to this madness. He does not deserve this fate." They nodded and talked about plans to reveal the Jewel to the crazed king. "(Y/N) you must be tired. Guard bring her to a cot and give her a warm meal" he says smiling down at me. "Thank you gandalf but I should go back I don't want them to worry." I say backing up to begin the journey back to the mountain. "Thorin is not stable you could get hurt" he says brows furrowed in concern. "I know but I decided to do this knowing that risk. My place is with my companions. Goodbye Gandalf" I say taking my leave. I sneak back into the mountain and start looking a spot to rest before I hear a voice call my name harshly. "Where were you?!" Thorin hissed. He was still in his crown and armor looking like the king he was destined to be. "I was just wandering the halls and then I went to get some fresh air. I'm sorry to worry you my love I just have never seen a kingdom so beautiful" I lie nervously. Thorin looks at me before softening his features. "Indeed. I can only think of one thing more beautiful than these halls" he says with a light smirk. I blush as he plants a soft kiss on forehead then embraces me. "My queen.." he whispers. I gasp at his words. The Thorin I knew had broke through for that moment. It didn't last though. "You should sleep. War is coming and I will not allow a single piece of our treasure to leave this mountain" he says, the sick look in his eyes returning. "Sleep well my love" I whisper sadly before heading down to find a room to use.

It was early morning when the company had gathered for a final negotiation with the two armies that awaited outside the walls of Erebor. "Our debt seems to have been paid Thorin Oakenshield. In return I offer my thanks to your generous gift" the Elven King taunts. He then pulls out the Arkenstone showing it to the king under the mountain. "TRICKERY!!!LIES!!!" Thorin bellows. "That stone is in the mountain. My mountain! and their is no possible way it could be in your grasp" he sneers. "Y-yes actually there is. That is the Arkenstone thorin. I gave it to him" I say shakily. Betrayal flashes in his eyes before a rage unlike anything I've ever seen before takes over his being. "You would steal from me?" He asks rage shaking his dangerously low voice. "I wanted to give it to you. I wanted us to live happily together in this land. I wanted-i want you Thorin. Not some dragon ill who will go to war because he would not keep his word. This stone is not worth our lives Thorin" I say trying to break through to the man I loved. "wretch! This was your plan all along? To keep me from my birth right and side with these tree-shaggers?!?" He screams marching towards me until I'm backed up to the end of the wall, looking down onto the rocky surface several feet bellow. He'd really do it. Kill his one for this shiny rock. Fear seeps into my heart as i look into a dragons fury "I-I..Th-Thorin I o-only wanted to help" I stutter. "I lov-" my words are cut off by a sickening crack. I fall to the ground holding my already swelling face and look up to see his hand raising again ready to hit again. His nephews run behind him and grab his hand trying to convince him to leave you be. "Take her to my chambers and lock her in. We have a war to win. I'll deal with her later" he hisses. Fili and kili lead me into the mountain and continue until we are out of Thorin's sight. They release my arms and engulf me in their arms as sobs rack my body. "I'm sorry (Y/N). I'm sorry we couldn't stop him. He won't harm you again. You have our word" Fili promises stroking my bruising cheek softly. "He loves you (Y/N). The man who struck you wasn't Thorin It's the dragon sickness...But I have faith he will pull through. That you will save him like you did before with your kindness and loving heart" Kili says stubbornly. I smile a bit at their Speeches and wipe my tears. The princes lead me to a room far from where the war would be taking place and we hugged one last time before they walked back down the long hall and to their king and uncle. He will pull through Kili's voice echoed. I smiled slightly before grabbing my bow and armor and creeping out the secret entrance that had been used by the company's burglar. I may have been cast from the company but I sure as heck wasn't going sit and watch my friends be slaughtered. This was war and I had a promise to keep. To watch over durin' sons.
