Chapter 2
Why did the baby have fangs?
"Holy shit, did you see his teeth?!" Eric asked me.
I nodded, "That's some freaky shit. Do you think we should we take him to a dentist or something?"
"I dunno. Let's just forget about it for now. If he tries to bite one of us, we'll deal with it, then."
"Okay. I gotta be at work in a half hour, see you later," I said while rushing out of the apartment.
"I don't know how to change his diaper!"
"Google it!" I yelled back. (A/N The pic on the side is of the bikini NOT her. Her pic is on chapter 1.)
Picturing him trying to change a baby's diaper while searching on Google made me laugh a little. I kinda liked this new responsible Eric. I hoped he wasn't going to act like a douche bag anymore. When I saw him look at Chris, it was like he'd woken up or something.
I've known him since I went to my last foster home, here in Miami. That was... wow, that was four years ago. Freshman year in high school. He was a sophomore and he helped me out when some losers were picking on me. Even back then he was a player and a party animal. He never acted toward me like he did with the other girls.
Eric and I flirted and teased each other at times, but that's as far as it got. That was too bad 'cause I'd had a crush on him since I saw him. I didn't fall madly in love with him, but I thought he was sweet and I liked him.
Over the years, however, the attraction wore off. I knew the sweet side of him, but I found out how he was with girls and that he drank and went to parties a lot, so I started looking at him as only a friend. It still made me a little bit jealous when I saw him with someone else, but I never let it show. I was good at hiding my emotions.
We were close friends, and he eventually told me why he was like that. His parents were never home and didn't really care about him so, in his words; he 'took advantage of that'. To me, it seemed like he just wanted attention from his parents, good or bad, but I never told him that. For his sake, I hoped he'd change.
I made it back to my apartment and Shawn was already gone. That was good, since I didn't feel like telling him that there would be a baby staying here at night. He'd probably either freak out or move out, maybe both.
I went in my room and put on a brown and pink bikini. The top was strapless and brown with a pink rectangle in the middle. The bottom was brown with two big pink stripes at the top and a small brown bow on the side. Shawn gave me a pair of his trunks that got too small on him a while ago, so I wore those over the bikini. They were all white, which was really stupid because they got see through in the water.
I threw my hair up in a ponytail, put my sunglasses back on, put brown flip flops on, grabbed my ipod, and went to the beach. Shawn told me once that I had a flip flop fetish. I literally had a pair in every shade of every color. They always sold them cheap, and I wore them at work every day, so I couldn't help myself.
Usually, there were no emergencies at the beach. Occasionally, though, a little kid wanders in the water or a surfer doesn't come back up to the surface. That's where I come in. I trained a lot to make myself swim faster and be stronger in the water. Plus I had to learn CPR and stuff like that.
The hard work was totally worth it. I loved my job. Staying out in the sun watching people swim and surf, seeing kids play, and looking at families interact and have fun. I was extremely envious of them, but at the same time it made me happy to see it.
