Your name was Kim Hye Jung. You, just like anybody else, wanted to pursue your dream of becoming a Kpop idol. You were waiting anxiously in the reception area to be called up for your audition to get into SM Entertainment.
Why anxiously? Well yes, it had been your dream for as long as you could remember, but it wasn't just that. No, it was because this audition wasn't just any normal audition.
Flashback
It was a frosty winter day. Snowy too, if you recall correctly. You were sitting in a cafe, nursing a wonderfully steamy white hot chocolate and idly checking your latest notifications on Twitter. The toasty warm ambience of the shop made you sleepy, and you nestled further into the comfy cushions of your chair.
"Excuse me, Agasshi?"
Startled, you looked up from your phone. A sharply dressed man stood before you; you didn't recognize him. You smiled hesitantly and greeted him.
"Neh? Can I help you?"
He pulled out a chair in front of you and sat.
"Yes, as a matter of fact. I was just passing by, and I was rather struck by your presence. Are you, by any chance, interested in joining the entertainment business?"
You looked at him quizzically.
"Possibly...waeyo?"
"Well, SM Entertainment has auditions coming up this May - I was wondering if you would like to come over and audition for us?"
You were shocked. Was he serious? Was this a joke? You stammered.
"Uh r-r-really? Are you - are you legit?"
"Ah! Yes, of course, how silly of me."
He flicked through his wallet, and pulled out his business card.
"Neh. Myungsoo imnida. I scout people to become trainees in SM."
He was real! This was happening! Oh gosh, oh gosh...breathe...breathe......okay.
"Ah, y-yes, I see. Uh...Kim Hye Jung imnida. Very pleased to meet you!"
He smiled.
"If you are interested, please feel free to give me a call! We can schedule your audition. Please take my offer seriously, and I look forward to working with you!"
"Neh. Kamsamnida!"
You got up and bowed, and he returned the gesture, then left. You took a lingering look at the card, and then left to go back to your apartment.
Once you got back, you shut the door and leaned against it. You breathed deeply, and then broke out into a huge smile. You couldn't believe it! You danced about the apartment and jumped up and down. "Ohmigosh! How did this happen? Did I - did I just getscouted?!" You jumped for the phone. But wait. No, you mustn't seem too eager. So you smiled widely as you waited an hour before calling...
"Yobesaeyo?"
"Yobesaeyo, this is Kim Hye Jung. Is this Kim Myung Soo? I believe we met earlier today?"
"Ah neh, Hye Jung ssi. Have you thought about my offer?"
"Neh. I've decided to try out. Can I schedule my audition?"
"That's great! Neh, of course! Hmmm, let me see...how about May 4th? Does 1:00pm sound OK to you?"
"Neh! Sounds good."
"Great! Alright, I'll see you then! I look forward to meeting you!"
"Neh, so do I. Bye!"
"Bye."
