Chap 19: Toddler trouble (unedited)
(look at how cute that photo is!!)
3rd POVToday was the day, the day everything would go back to the way it was. No more baby Yuuri, no more baby food, no more feeling alone. Victor would finally have his love back.
They all knew that by morning Yuuri would have turned back, so they all decided that they should just sleepover so they could see him since everyone had missed him in some way. By morning though Victor was ecstatic. He promised that he wouldn't go into his room until his love had come out himself, and he was having a hard time keeping that promise. He just wanted to run into that room and scoop him up like old times, so Yuri and Pichit often found themselves holding him back.
They were surprised with how long Yuuri ended up sleeping, it was probably about eleven o'clock when they started to hear something.
They'd just about finished breakfast too, so as Victor took of his orange juice he couldn't help but spit it out once he heard the sound of someone stumbling. At that point everyone was on edge, Yuuri was just behind that door.
He seemed to fumble with the doorknob for some reason, and some mused on the idea of going to help him. And that was when people started to get a bit worried, did something happen to Yuuri?
Everyone in the room had probably thought the same thing as they looked at each other with faces of panic, Victor was given a simple nod from the group and he went to help open the door. He was silent as he crept up to it, and took a deep breath as he slowly took the handle in his hand and pushed it down.
And once the door was fully opened, he wasn't greeted with his husband's face in front of his. He was greeted by a pair of tiny arms wrapping themselves around his leg and someone yelling, "daddy!" at him. And once he looked down he didn't know what to think, Yuuri wasn't a baby anymore. Nope, he was a toddler.
The room fell silent and everyone looked at the small child at Victor's feet. Nobody knew what to say. But of course Yuuri, oblivious to the tension, ran up to Yuri who was frozen in his place and hugged his leg, "brother!" he squealed.
And soon Yuuri was greeting everyone in the room, with names that caught everyone off guard. Pichit was uncle P, Celestino was grandpa (he wasn't to happy hearing that), and Otabek was an uncle Beka.
How Yuuri had come up with those titles was beyond them, and truly they were all just trying to smile for Yuuri. The last thing they wanted was for him to think that they hated the names or something. But everyone couldn't help but feel remorse, but at the same time, pity overpowered that feeling. Victor was frozen in the exact spot Yuuri had left him in, and was just staring at the ground not saying a word.
"What do you do in a time like this?" Yuri thought to himself as he watched Victor struggle to keep his composure. Victor had gone through so much, and now he was going to have to go through it again. This time, Yuri wasn't sure if Victor could handle that.
Otabek saw the look Yuri was giving to Victor, and took Yuuri from his legs and into his arms. He then made a motion for Yuri to go over to Victor while he distracted the small child. Yuri silently thanked the man before he quietly walked over to Victor.
As he reached him he placed a hand on his shoulder to try to soothe him, but once he saw his face I just didn't know what to say. It was like a mixture of confusion and sadness, and it looked like he couldn't decided on which. "V-Victor" he stuttered trying to get his attention.
He didn't budge and continued to stare at the ground, "I-I don't know what happened either, maybe we read the label wrong?" Yuri suggested hoping to get him out of the daze. He flinched for moment and gave a pathetic chuckle, "yeah, maybe we read it wrong" he murmured in a shaky voice.
Yuri smiled as confidently at him as he could and grabbed his hand, "then let's go check" he exclaimed as cheery as he could manage. Victor trailed slowly behind the shaky blonde as he directed him to the bedroom.
Once they reached the room, Yuri searched around for that small bottle Victor had given Yuuri only a week before. As Yuri searched and searched for the small bottle he started to get flustered, he had no idea where the bottle was. Well, that was until Victor lazily pointed to the bedside table's drawer.
Yuri silently thanked the silver haired man before he opened it to find the bottle. But next to it was all of Yuuri's rings. His wedding ring and engagement laid right next to the vile and it just made Yuri's heart clench. These signs of love and commitment were set down next to the very thing that took these things away from its owner. It wasn't a very pleasant sight.
But still, Yuri knew that he couldn't dwell on the matter and instead pulled out the vile in hopes of finding something. But immediately he noticed something, the bottle was not as light as he thought. There was a small cork that held the contents of the bottle inside, so Yuri twisted the cork to look inside, and when he did he noticed that there was still a bit left at the bottom. A bit of hope filled Yuri's chest as he hurriedly checked the rest of the bottle for anything else, and what he found made him smile genuinely after seeing Yuuri again.
It said that drinking half of the bottle meant one week as a baby, but if you drink the whole thing it's another week as a toddler. But, Yuuri didn't drink the full second half, so that would mean he could change at anytime in the middle of this week. Meaning probably about 3-4 days of this and Yuuri would be back.
Or so they'd hope.
But, still the news delighted Yuri and he immediately told the sulking Victor. And never had he seen Victor's face light up so fast in his life. "Are you serious!" he yelled. Yuri only nodded and showed him exactly what the bottle wrote, and the remaining contents of the bottle.
Victor found himself smiling, cheering and anything kind of happy gesture in that moment. He was so happy to know that he didn't have to wait a whole other week for his lover to come back, probably about 3-4 days and he'll be back in Victor's arms where he belongs.
After that, Victor forgot all the things that he was sad about. He knew becoming this depressed figure wasn't going to help anything, especially Yuuri.
So as Victor went outside the room, and back to where everyone was he saw Yuuri running around the room, and Victor smiled. This time he planned on enjoying the week to the fullest. No more depressed Victor because he knew it could've been so much worse. And he was feeling pretty lucky since he was still able to have him in the same house as him.
And as Yuuri turned to Victor with this huge bright smile, Victor couldn't help but feel a little happy too as he scooped up Yuuri who had ran over to him once again.
The group was about to look sympathetic at him, but as they saw that small sparkle in his eye, they dropped it. They'll just ask Yuri later.
I don't know what to put after that again. Um, comment if you liked the story? I don't know I have another story I'm going to update since I feel productive today. Oh, wait! I have an announcement. Yeah about 3-5 more chapters to this story are left. Well, that's what I think after all (not including the epilogue), but I just don't think I can do another full week of this, so leave suggestions on what I should do. And the days aren't going to last two chapters anymore, I just want to relax with this story now and enjoy the feeling of finally ending the book. But yeah, that should be all I have to say...thank you so much for reading!
