The three of us were rummaging through Haylie's parents' room first. Yes, all three because after Haylie and I realized we weren't going fast enough alone, we invited her to join in. Anything to get this over with. Every now and again, Ang would interrogate Haylie.

"So, how many boyfriends have you had?" She had asked. Haylie look to me for support.

I had mumbled into her ears. "Just answer her. She won't let it go." Haylie sighed in defeat.

"Hm, I don't know. Six..." Haylie had answered.

"Wow. That's a lot considering you're only 16." Angela snapped. Haylie made a low growl of correction '17'. I had to admit that I was jealous and it could be seen as a lot since she was a wolf and you don't do too many hook ups before your mate.

"So, when was your first kiss?" Angela had continued to add pressure through the night and Haylie would do no more than mutter a response.

"When I was 14.", was what she let out.

Angie fired back with "who was it with?"

"This guy. Bryan." She whispered.

"Sounds like you're not too close anymore. Did you just kiss some random guy?" Haylie groaned when Angela had said that.

"Angela. Enough." I demanded, using beta authority.

"Fine, fine. I'm done." Angela gave in to my command. Both Haylie and I released a sigh of relief. "Just one last thing!"

I was ready to pounce at that very moment but Haylie gripped my arm with intentions of stopping me. She nodded. "What Angelica?" Differentiating from her usual mumbles, Haylie had hissed at Angela, who dismissed the mis-pronunciation of her name.

"Are you a virgin?"

That question had me going. Was she? Haylie hesitated and glanced back at me. She didn't want me to know. "Haylie..." Her name slipped from my lips. The answer was pretty clear and she knew I wanted to hear the truth.

"It's okay! You can share!" Angela chirped in that all too peppy tone I hated. "I'm not one either." She admitted. That crushed me. But only because I knew who she lost it to.

Haylie's head snapped back to look at me, uncertain. She knew who it was, too. I saw the hurt flash on her face. It depressed me that Angela told her before I had the chance to ease that in. I wasn't bout to tart bawling my eyes out but going through 5 different girls taught me a thing or two about announcing that kind of information. It was going to make her a lot harder to break.

Haylie's pain-filled expression slowly and reluctantly simmered. "Oh." She began to rotate her head back to Angela. "No, I'm not." She said, creating a facade of pride. I knew she was trying to seem strong and unaffected.

Angela smiled at my shocked and disappointed face. "Who'd you lose it to?" She pressed on with bright eyes.

"My most recent ex boyfriend." Haylie continued to sound peppy.

"Come on, give me names!" Angela questioned. Haylie opened her mouth as I held my breath on the answer.

"Watch the curb, Hugh!" We heard Mrs. Cromwell's voice from below. Their back-lights shun into the room and Angela and I crouched in an immediate defense position.

"My room! Go to my room!" Haylie whisper-shouted, shuffling off to the closed door down the hall. Angie looked at me, worriedly, and for the first time since she turned 16, I felt like her protecting boyfriend again. I felt like comforting her. And she seemed genuine. Throughout the past 5 months, every move she's made was a fake act to try to get me back. But now I saw an inch of her true feelings. Not for me but just simple, real fear. I nodded at her, whispering 'they won't catch us. Go' and she followed orders, scampering off in front of me.
