For the second time in less than two days, Elliot found herself standing at the emergency doors of the hospital. She didn't even remember the drive over, her mind a blur as Clara told her of the assault. Who would have done something like this? Elliot's first thought was Patricia father. But her grandmother had already placed a call. finding the man still in California.
Elliot sat in shock next to her crying friend. The anger inside her not allowing a single tear to drop. Why was this happening to them? Why couldn't fate just leave them to their happiness? A gentle touch pulled Elliot from her thoughts, she looked up to find her grandmother looking down at her with concern, "It's going to be a while maybe you should come and wait with us in the waiting area, She spoke as Sofia led a distraught Clara along with her.
Elliot shook her head and looked back at the security doors that led the emergency area she would wait, former if need be there was no way she was going to leave this place without Patricia.
"Miss," The nurse shook Elliot's shoulder, "Miss." She knew the young woman was waiting on news of the Harrington woman they had watched her all day sitting there until she finally succumbed to exhaustion. No.one even her own family could get her to move or even eat the eighteen hours she had been here.
Elliot's eyes opened and she tried to get to her feet without success her limbs were far too stiff and numb for her to make it on her own. "Where is she?" she croaked out, her throat dry from her refusal to drink anything.
"She has been taken into recovery a few hours ago and they will be taking her to another room shortly."
"I want to see her, can I see her?" Elliot all but begged.
Sofia strolled over to Elliot pushing a wheelchair. "Come on I'll give you a lift."
"I can walk," Elliot tried to let go of the wall nearly stumbling.
"Yeah, right, and by the time you make it, Patricia would have already healed and been released." Sofia laughed. "Now get in." She pointed to the seat. Elliot huffed but got into the seat allowing Sofia to cart her along. Sofia shoved a bottle of water into her hand. "Drink, " she ordered while making sure to follow the nurse.
Patricia has been awake for a while, her hand gently stroked the through the thick dark strands that drape alongside her thigh. The position could not have been a comfortable one but she could not bring herself to wake the beautiful woman. The sound of the door opening drew her attention, she placed a finger against her lip as she looked at the three concerned faces at the door.
Sofia looked over to the couch at the untouched tray of food. She shook her head at her friend's stubbornness then turned her attention back to the blond whose eyes we now back on the sleeping woman who head laid on the bed as her arm draped protectively over her lover.
"Do you remember what happened?" Sofia whispered.
Patricia nodded, "A," she tried to clear the dryness in her throat, Elizabeth who stood by Elliot's side, quickly grabbed the cup of water near the bed and held the straw in place as she tried not to disturb her sleeping granddaughter. Patricia sipped on the cool liquid and tried again. "It was a.... a woman, " she spoke slowly.
"A woman?" Sofia whispered in surprised thinking this was the work of the woman's father. However, she knew the kind of man he was. and knew for a fact would think a woman would not be capable enough to perform such a task. "Are you sure?" she asked wanting to make sure Patricia was not suffering from the effects of the anesthesia.
"Yes," Patricia's eyes still watching the sleeping form by her side. "She said I needed to stay away from Elliot," she whispered.
"What?" Clara said louder than intended.
