Poisoned Again

It had been a month since the whole incident with the Akatsuki and the Kazekage happened. I was doing some research on a medication for the old to give them more energy so they wouldn’t feel so sluggish all the time. I flipped the page as someone knocked on my door. Thinking it was my imagination I just continued to flip the page until I heard it again. I sighed and got up, walking over to the door. I opened it to find the Kazekage standing there.

“Lord Kazekage? What brings you to my home all the way out here?” I asked slightly surprised. I looked behind him to see Temari with Kankuro lending on her shoulder. “Kankuro? Quick come in.” I let them in and looked around finding no place to put him. I found a table and pushed all the books off of it, not caring where they landed or if they were okay. “Here, put him here.” I told them and they did as I said. I took my stethoscope off the wall and pulling up his shirt placing the cold metal against his skin. “What happened?” I asked as I listened for anything that would sound different or weird.

“We were on a mission not far from here. We were tracking some bandits when they turned around and threw something catching him off guard. It was just a kunai so we thought to ignore it but after 10 minutes he suddenly collapsed.” Gaara explained.

“10 minutes without any hints?” I asked and they nodded. I sighed and stood up looking at them. “Since you are all related I need one of your blood as samples.” I told them. They exchanged glances and then Temari sighed holding out her arm. I nodded and got out the rubber elastic putting it around her arm. I got out my needle and took some of her blood quickly and then took off the elastic. I put the blood in a beaker when I heard a moan. I turned to Kankuro to see his face in pain. “Hold on, I’m going as fast as I can.” I told him as I hurried to my book of different antidotes. “Temari, you were in the room when I first helped Kankuro, Please help me and put alcohol on a towel then hand it to me.”

“Ugh.. Okay.” Temari replied and started to do that for me as I looked through the book.

“Is there anything I can do?” Gaara asked.

“Just keep an eye on Kankuro and tell me if anything changes.” I told him.

“Here.” Temari handed me the towel. “But it didn’t turn a colour like it did when you did it.” She told me. I grabbed the towel and set it on the table.

“That’s because it’s just alcohol on a towel.” I told her. I took a needle and walked over to Kankuro. “Hold him still.” I told Gaara who then grabbed ahold of his brother by the shoulders. “Just a pinch” I told Kankuro as I put the elastic band around his arm then inserted the needle, drawing his blood out.  I took out the needle and took off the elastic band and walked over to a small circular table I had beside my lab table. I put the blood into a clear cylinder container and put a screw on lid on it. I put the container into a grove that was on the table and stepped onto a pedal that would spin the table around.

    “What’s that for?” Temari asked.

“It separates the blood and poison from each other.” I told her and waited for the table to stop spinning. Once it did I took the container and got another clean needle and inserted it into a rubber area at the bottom of the container and got some of the poison. I put some of the poison onto the towel and the rest into a test tube. The towel turned purple. I walked back to my book and flipped thru the pages landing on the right page. I got the right ingredients from a cupboard I had over my table and cut them up appropriately. I mixed them together into a red paste. I looked at the towel confirming it was purple and turned around looking over the room for the book on flowers I needed. I walked around my house picking up books and throwing them until I found the right one. I heard another moan and cringed. I walked back over to my table and flipped through the book when I landed on the right flower.

[Temari POV]

“December flower?” Yumiko questioned the book. She looked up at me to see a worried expression.

“D-don’t tell me you need one for the antidote.” I asked. She sighed and nodded.

“I’ll be right back.” She told us and walked into a closet in the room. She closed the door and disappeared from our sight.

“What’s December flower?” Gaara asked me.

“It’s a rare flower that only blooms in December and only in the land of frost.” I told him as I begun passing around the room. I heard the door open and close and turned to see Yumiko walking towards her table with a blue flower in her hand. “I-is that…?”

“December flower.” She stated as she began to cut it into pieces and added it to the mixture. I have only seen the flower in books but it really was the bluest blue I have ever seen.

[MC POV]

I looked at the purple paste and nodded. I put some of it in some water and put it in the test tube with the poisoned blood. I watched as the blood turned from green to red. I sighed. “Temari can you grab a cup of water from the kitchen. It’s in the next room over there.” I pointed as I quickly wrote down the recipe I had just made before I forgot it.

When Temari came back with the water I grabbed it from her and took the purple mixture and walked over to Kankuro. “Wake him up. He needs to eat this.” I told them. It took both of them to wake him up and help him sit. He was clearly in a haze. “Kankuro.” I said quietly as I placed the bowl of purple antidote on a stack of books. “He slowly looked over to me and I smiled knowing he wasn't that far gone. “Open your mouth for me.” I told him and he did as I asked. I took a small clean spoon from my table and scooped up some of the purpleness and put it into his mouth. He closed his mouth and ate it. He then passed out throwing Temari into a panic.

“What just happened? Is he going to be okay?” She asked slapping his cheek.

“He’s fine Temari. It’s just his body’s way of healing.” I said as I stood up and walked over to clean my table. “He’ll need to stay here until he is fully healed though.” I said and looked back at the bowl. “I guess I’m also going to have to turn that into a serum.” I mumbled to myself.

“Are you sure he’s fine?” Temari asked me. “What was the water for than?”

“Oh, the water was for if he had stayed awake long enough, this stuff would most likely taste horrible.” I told her picking up the bowl. I got an empty container from inside a cabinet and filled it with the antidote. I labeled it with Kankuro’s name and put it back. “You can visit as much as you want but he most likely won't be up for about a week or two.” I said as I picked a book off the ground and back onto a pile of books that was threatening to fall over from height. Once I had successfully steaded it I looked back to the siblings to see worry on their face. “Also I’m going to need your help to move him into my spare room.” I said and I looked to Kankuro. He was fairly tall compared to me. I was 5ft 4 and a half and he was about 5ft 7. They nodded and it took the two of them to picked him up. I lead them through my book filled house to my spare room and cleared off the books from the bed and they laid him on it. They stood up straight and looked at him. “I promise he is in good hands. I will tell him to contact you as soon as he’s awake.” I told them. They nodded and I walked them to the door and opened it for them. “Don’t worry so much. You both have very important jobs to to as Kazekage and the Ambassador of Sunagakure.” I smiled as I said my farewells. They nodded and walked down the steps.

“I’m sorry to intrude on your life like this Yumiko.” Gaara apologized.

“It’s no big deal.” I told him. “Anyways, I think the Kazekage has been away for too long now, go do your job.” I told him and he nodded and walked away with his sister who waved bye. I watched as they walked away until I couldn’t see them anymore and walked back into my house shutting the door.

I sighed and walked around the table and started to pick the books off the ground and putting them anywhere they could fit.
