[Kankuro POV]

"...She never once contacted me, it was always Gaara she sent a letter to..." I was walking back with Temari not really listening to what she was saying. I sighed and looked behind me wishing that a certain red haired, brown eyed girl would be standing there with god awful antidote tea. I turned around again when I realized how silly I was being. She was just my doctor and now that I was healed I didn't need to see her anymore. I sighed again.

"KANKURO!" I turned to Temari who looked at me worriedly.

"What, why are you yelling?" I asked confused.

"You didn't hear anything I just said did you?" She asked then sighed.

"I...uh...sorry..." I said too lazy to even deny it. "Temari did you hear that?" I asked as I stopped walking and looked behind me.

"Hear what? She didn't make you crazy did she?" Temari put her hands on her hips.

"Shush." I said trying to see if I could hear it again.

"kankuro!"  I definitely heard it that time.

"Yumiko!" I yelled running back to her house. Temari called after me and then started running behind me knowing she wouldn't be able to stop me.

When I got to the house the front door was wide open. Hitting against the house in the wind. I ran inside and saw a huge mess. I looked to her table and saw all of her test tubes and beaker were broken with the herbs everywhere.

"What happened in here?" Temari asked beside me.

"I don't know." I said as I walked inside. I ran to the kitchen and didn't see her. Her bedroom, no. The guest room, no. I went back to Temari. "She's not in the house." I said and ran outside. That's when I saw it. A black ribbon hanging from a bush. I walked over to it and picked it up. "It's Yumiko's." I said and looked on the ground to see many foot prints heading in the opposite direction than the way we headed. "Someone took Yumiko." I told Temari, who nodded.

"Right lets go." She said and took off running with me on her tail.

After a bit of running we arrived at what looked like an abandoned house. Me and Temari snuck up to the house and looked in the windows. Inside I could see three men standing around something red. I looked closer and found that I was Yumiko's hair. I felt the rage build in me and I was about to go in when Temari stopped me by putting her hand out.

"Kankuro stop and think about this. You don't have any fully complete puppets with you and no ninja tools. Let me handle this, you just focus on getting Yumiko out of there." I sighed and nodded. On Temari's signal she barged in and attacked the guys as I rushed in and took Yumiko. I ran outside and when I was far enough I laid her on the ground.

Her face was paler than usual and her red hair was in a mess. Her clothes had dirt all over them and she had a scratch on her cheek. I stood up and was about to go back to kill the bastards but something wouldn't let me leave her alone. I sighed and sat down beside her and moved her hair from her face.

"Kankuro!" I heard Temari yell. I turned to see Temari running to me. Once she got to me she looked almost scared. "Kankuro! We have to get her to the hospital right away. They poisoned her and said she only has a week to live." I felt my heart drop into my stomach. I looked down to Yumiko and picked her up.

"Let's go!" I said and I ran off with Yumiko in my arms.

Once we got to the hospital and got her check out they said they had call in a medical ninja from another village to help. It had been two days already and Yumiko looked even paler and her hair didn't seem so bright anymore. I sighed and stroked her hair. I hated seeing her like this, and not being able to do anything made it worse.

The door opened and Sakura rushed in. "Where's Yumiko?" She asked then spotted us. She walked over and started to do different test trying to figure out what the poison was.

After a while of test Sakura's face dropped and she looked up.

"Is there anything we can do?" I asked knowing the news wasn't going to be good.

"The antidote to this is made up of extremely rare ingredients. It will take longer than she has to gather them." She said making my heart sink.

"Wait..." I said remembering something. I turned to Sakura. "What are the ingredients."

"Eh...Steam root, Sand moss,  Snow bean and Striped stick." She listed them off the top of her head. I smiled from the familiar names.

"Give me two days." I said then ran out of the room towards the one place I knew would have all of those ingredients.
