The next morning I woke up early like I do everyday and got dressed into my usual clothes. I put my hair up with the black ribbon and walked out of my room and into the kitchen. I took eggs out of the fridge and started to cook them, making scrambled eggs. I put the tea on and waited till everything was done and walked to the cabinet above my lab table and got out kankuro’s medication. I walked back to the kitchen and opened the container to see almost none left. I scooped out the rest and put it into his tea. I put the container aside and brought everything to the table. I put the bag of sugar next to his tea and walked to his room. I knocked on the door and opened it.

“Kankuro, time to get up.” I said walking in.

“But I’m still tired.” He said then rolled over.

“Come on, I even made you eggs.” I told him. I heard him sigh and he rolled over onto his back and opened one eye to look at me.

“Fine...I’m up.” He said as he slowly sat up. I nodded and walked back to the kitchen and sat at the table and started to eat. A few minutes later Kankuro walked in and sat at the table and began to eat. I watched as he looked at the tea cup to the bag of sugar back to the tea. He took a bite of his eggs then took the bag of sugar and started pouring it into the cup. I smiled and sipped on my tea.

“You're going to get diabetes if you keep on putting that much sugar in your tea.” I said. Kankuro looked to me.

“Well you don’t have to have horrible medicine tea.” He said then took a sip.

We quickly finished our breakfast and I put our dishes by the sink. I walked to my table with Kankuro in tow. I pulled out the journal that was on the top shelf and opened it writing some stuff down. Kankuro looked over my shoulder and I snapped the book closed and put it back on the shelf. I took out another book and flipped through the pages.

“What are you looking for?” Kankuro asked looking over my shoulder.

“The recipe for your medicine.” I told him as I flipped though the pages. “I need to make more.” I found the lost paper I had written it down on and pulled it out. Kankuro pulled it out of my hand and looked at it, “Hey, give that back!”

“No, I have a right to know what’s in my medication.” He said in protest. I sighed.

“Fine, but come with me so I can get the ingredients.” I said as I walked over to the closet.

“December flower? Isn’t that rare.” He asked as we walked and I nodded.

“Yeah, now come on.” I said. He followed me into the closet and watched as I opened the other door that lead down into my basement. We walked down a flight of stairs and when we turned the corner I heard Kankuro suck in air.

“This place is amazing.” He said as he looked around at everything.

“Yeah, well it’s hard to make stuff if you don’t have the proper ingredients. So I just grow the stuff that's harder to come by.” I looked at my handy work of a basement. Different sections had different climates going. I walked over to the winter area and picked two December flowers.

“This is the first time I ever saw one.” Kankuro stated looking at the flower in my hand.

“Yeah, most people go their whole life without seeing one. I personally think it’s a shame.” I told him as I moved over to the marsh area and picked some sweat moss. I then picked some stripped stick. “Alright that’s all. The rest is already upstairs.” I turned to Kankuro to see him poking a leaf that looked like a butterfly. “Kankuro...That’s is a leaf.” I said and watched as he stood up straight.

“I knew that!” He yelled then followed me up the stairs. I walked over to my table and began making the antidote.

Once I was done making the paste I turned around to see that Kankuro had cleared the other table and had his puppet stuff all laid out. I walked over and sat on the floor and watched him work.

[Kankuro POV]

After a while of working on my puppet I noticed it was really quite, no grinding or chopping sounds that I thought I should be hearing. I looked to the table to see that Yumiko wasn’t there. I heard some books fall over and turned the other way too see that she was asleep beside me. I looked at the time and saw that it was time for my medication again. I sighed and stood up and walked over to her. I kneeled down and shook her gently.

“Yumiko…” Her eyes shot open making me fall backwards in surprise.

“Oh, are you okay? Sorry, I must have dozed off.” She said rubbing her eyes. I smiled and realized that she was actually pretty cute.

“I’m fine. It’s time for the antidote.” I told her and she blinked and looked at the clock.

“That’s right.” She stood up and walked over to her table and picked up a spoon and scooped up some purple mush.

[MC POV]

“Here.” I said as I held the spoon out to him.

“Can we get a cup of water or something first?” He asked eyeing the spoon.

“No, I want to see something.” I said making him sigh.

“Fine…” He took the spoon and put it in his mouth. I watched with a smile as his face went from worry to surprise.

“It’s... still horrible... but it’s better.” He said and I smiled.

“Good, Next time I make it I’ll fix it more so you won't complain.” I turned around and wrote down the addition on the recipe paper. I got out a container and put the rest of it in there and marked it with his name. “Now I have a question.” I said turning back to Kankuro.

“What is it?” He said raising an eyebrow.

“Do that thing again with the puppet.” I said pointing to the puppet he was working on.

“Do what?” He asked and he walked over to the puppet and I followed.

“You made the hand move.” I said as I sat down across from him.

“You lived with Lady Chiyo but you never saw her move a hand before?” Kankuro asked.

“By the time she took me in she had retired already.” I explained frowning.

“Oh.” Kankuro said and then the hand on the table moved and started walking around making me laugh.

I couldn’t remember the last time I had so much fun… or even if I did at all. But I knew I was going to enjoy the next 2 months.
