[Kankuro POV]

I opened my eyes and felt stiff and sore throughout my whole body. I sat up and stretched looking around the unfamiliar room. It was fairly small and had books everywhere. On the floor, on shelves, on a chair, and on top of a desk threatening to spill over. Where was I? I looked down on the ground to see a bowl of water with a towel by it. I stood up and stretched getting some of the stiffness out of my body. I walked to the door and opened it. As soon as I took one step into the hallway I heard a girl scream followed by the sound of many thing hitting the floor. I rushed towards the sound into a bigger room full of more books. On the floor was a pile of books not stacked like the others. I looked closer and saw red hair under all of the books. I had to stifle a laugh once I knew who it was. I sighed and helped her get the books off of her.

[MC POV]

Someone got the last book off of me and I looked up to see Kankuro kneeling there with a stack of books in his hands. I glared at him and took the books from him. “You should still be in bed.” I told him putting the books somewhere under the table.

“Why?” He asked as he held out his hand to help me stand. I sighed and took it.

“You almost died because of poison or do you not remember?” I asked.

“I remember but I feel fine. How long has it been any ways?” He asked me as I walked back over to my table.

“About a month. It took longer than expected for you to wake up.” I told him taking out a journal and writing in it.

“How long did you think it would take me?” He asked looking over my shoulder. I snapped the book closed and put it back on a shelf under my cabinet but above my table.

“A week or two. When your sister visited then she was worried I had killed you.” I told him as I put the pen in my mouth and cleaned up the table so everything was where it should be. “Only reason I lived is because I was the one taking care of you.” I told him remembering how she almost took my head.

“Hehe.” I turned around to see Kankuro laughing at me.

“You think that’s funny? Remember who has your life in her hands.” I threatened. I will admit that Temari officially scares me… though I would never admit this out loud.

“Relax… So when can I leave doc.” Kankuro teased as he followed me into my kitchen. I took down two mugs and poured black tea into each.

“Grab the sugar, and don’t call me doc.” I told him as I brought the cups back into my book filled living room. I put them on my table and walked over to my cabinet and took out the container with his name on it. I then took out the small spoon that was in it and put some of the purple paste into one of the tea cups. I then pushed the cup to a sugar holding Kankuro. I took the pen out of my mouth and began to drink mine as I leaned against the table.

“What is the sugar for?” He asked shaking it in his hand.

“You’ll need it.” I told him as I took another sip of my tea.

“Why would I need it?” He asked as he took a sip out of his tea. He swallowed and then stuck out his tongue as he started pouring the sugar into his cup. “What did you put in this?” He asked.

“I put your medication in it.” I told him.

“Medication?” He asked looking in his cup.

“Relax, it’s the antidote to the poison. Now that you’re awake you can ingested it instead of me giving you a needle each time.” I told him. “Saves me supplies.” I mumbled the last part. He looked at me weirdly as he took another sip of his sugar tea.

“So, you never did tell me when I could leave.” He told me looking around.

“Well, until the poison is fully gone, so I originally thought about a month but seeing as it took you twice as long to wake up than I thought. I’m going to say about 2 months.” I explained to him.

“What? Two months? Can’t you just give me the medication and I’ll take it when I need to?” He asked and I sighed.

“You need to take it every 12 hours and a new batch had to be created once a week.” I told him. “Plus I need to keep an eye on you. Once a week for the last month you have broke out in different fevers that would last two to three days.” I told him calming him a bit.

    “So those towels…” He started.

“I used them to keep your face dry and cool.” I admitted as I drank the last of my tea and standing up straight. “You should contact your siblings. They are most likely freaking out about you.” I said as I took his cup of tea. “The pad of paper is on the table, same with the pen.” I said and walked into the kitchen to wash the dishes.

[Kankuro POV]

I stood there feeling like a complete ass. She took care of me for a month for free and as soon as I awoke I complain that I couldn't leave. What was I thinking. I sighed and found the note pad and pen and began writing.

Hey Temari, I just woke up and took my first cup of horrible medicine. I guess I’ll be staying here for awhile so do you think you can bring me some puppets to work on.

                                        -Kankuro

I looked it over and sighed. I walked outside and found Yumiko’s messenger bird. I tied the note to her ankle and she flew off. I walked back inside and into the kitchen to see Yumiko doing the dishes. I walked up to the drying rack and picked up a plate drying it off. “Where does this go?” I asked.

[MC POV]

“Uh. Bottom shelf to your right.” I told him where to put the plate he had dried.

“This?” He asked picking up a cup.

“Also to your right, middle shelf.” I told him and I finished up and took a juice jug out of the drying rack and dried it.

“This?” He held up a coffee mug.

“Beside the cups.” I told him and walked over beside him. I opened the cabinet and stood on my tippy toes reaching for the top shelf. I was about to give up when Kankuro took the jug from behind me and put it on the top shelf for me. “T-thanks.” I said as I walked around him and went back to the drying rack.

“No problem...How did you put it up there when you lived alone?” He asked me.

“I would either climb onto the counter or grab a chair.” I said, he looked around the kitchen.

“You mean those chair full of books?” He asked. I looked to where he was looking to see my dining table full of books that had spilt over onto the chairs.

“Like I said I climb onto the counter.” I said and turned away as he laughed at me.
