"What?" James asked into the phone. Phil listened closely. "You're going after him? Good. Okay, I'm on my way." He ended the call and turned to Phil. "They're on the run. They just left an abandoned house. I'm going there to see if Dan is there," He said, putting on his jacket.

"I'm coming with-" Phil started, but was interrupted by James shaking his head.

"No, you're not," James said. "You are staying right here. We don't need anything happening to you." He shook his head and walked out of the house.

Phil watched him, his mind going a mile a minute. He was this close to finding Dan, and his own father wasn't going to let him go. He ran out of the house after him. "I'm going with you!" he shouted, jumping into the cruiser.

James stared at him. "I don't want you to get hurt!" he said.

"I don't care! We're this close to finding Dan! I'm. Coming. With. You," Phil said firmly.

James sighed and started the cruiser. "Fine," he said. "But you're staying behind me, and you will listen to everything I say. We're walking into a crime scene."

Phil nodded. "I know," he said. "I won't do anything stupid."

James nodded. "That's right you won't," he said firmly. He drove quickly to the abandoned house, sirens blaring so that people would get out of his way.

They soon arrived and saw the front door wide open. There were a couple of other officers there, scoping the outside. It was obvious they had just gotten there.

One officer walked up to the two as they exited the car. "Hello, Officer Lester," he said, glancing at Phil. "Why is your son here?"

James sighed. "He insisted on coming. But he will be fine," he said, glaring at Phil, who nodded.

"Alright. Well, we're ready to go inside," the officer said, nodding.

James nodded and turned to Phil. "Look, I'm going to give you this for protection, but don't you dare use it unless someone is attacking you," he said firmly, giving him a handgun. "I'm trusting you more than I should, honestly. Don't you dare fuck it up." He pulled out his own handgun and carefully walked toward the front door. Phil followed carefully.

James split up from the other officers, walking into the bedroom. Phil followed and gasped quietly.

There, they saw the bed frame. They saw Phil's ripped up shirt. They saw the blood, the frayed ropes, and the piles of glass scattered around. The smell in the room made James almost puke. Phil, on the other hand, was trying not to cry. There was just so much blood.

"Phil, I don't think he's here anymore," James said quietly. Phil nodded, unable to say anything.

"James!" One of the officers shouted as he ran into the room, gagging at the scent. "James, they managed to get the van to stop," he said frantically.

Both James and Phil ran out and into the cruiser. James immediately started speeding to where the van had been stopped. He glanced at Phil. "These guys are dangerous. You are staying in the car this time, or so help me god, I will kill you myself," he said firmly. Phil just nodded. He still could only imagine the blood all over the floor. James noticed his behavior. "We're going to find Dan. We're this close," he said, patting his leg comfortingly. Phil once again, just nodded.

Dan could hear sirens in the distance. He knew that the van was being chased by police officers, and the thought gave him even more hope. He adjusted the way he was seated so that he wasn't hurting his arm anymore.

"Fuck, they're getting closer!" Connor shouted from the front.

"Then drive faster!" Derrick snapped.
