(Just a little heads-up- This fic will be ending soon. There's about 3-4 chapters left.)

Dan woke up to see blinding white lights. He tried to move his arm to cover his eyes, but a sharp pain went through it. Suddenly, the memories of what had just happened, and a suffocating wave of pain, coursed through his body and he let out a quiet whimper of pain. He closed his eyes and tried not to cry.

The hospital room's door opened and a nurse smiled gently at Dan. She walked over, carrying a clipboard. "Good morning, Daniel," she said, smiling. "You passed out for a few hours. We patched you up and gave you some painkillers, but they may have worn off." Dan nodded, listening to her. "Do you remember what happened?" Dan nodded again. "Okay, well, you're going to be in the hospital for a few days, at the very least. And you'll be on crutches once you're released." She smiled. "You have a visitor, by the way. He's been waiting since you got here."

Dan just nodded, but he was panicking. Who was his visitor? He was hoping and praying that it was Phil; he didn't want to talk to anyone else. The nurse left and closed the door behind her, leaving Dan to worry on his own.

The door soon opened again, and Dan was greeted to Phil's bright blue eyes, black hair, and pale complexion. Seeing him again made tears spring to his eyes, and Phil seemed to be feeling the same way. He rushed up to Dan and tackled him in a hug, but he was careful not to hurt him.

"Dan, oh my god, you're alive," Phil said, already crying. His eyes trailed to Dan's bandaged arms, chest, and leg, and a new wave of tears sprung to his eyes. "I-I'm so sorry."

And those three words were what made Dan completely break down.

He was full on sobbing, and Phil was hugging him tightly, murmuring gentle things to try and calm him down. Dan probably hadn't ever cried this hard in his life, which was surprising.

After a good five minutes of Dan crying, he sniffled and looked up at Phil. He wiped his face with his less injured arm that he could actually move.

"Are you okay?" Phil asked gently. Dan shook his head. "Are you going to talk?" he murmured.

Dan hesitated. He loved Phil, and he knew that he wouldn't do anything to him. But after what had happened over the last month, he didn't know if he wanted to risk talking again. He shook his head. Phil sighed quietly.

"Dan, your kidnappers are currently in jail. They're going on trial in a few days, and you'll be asked to be there. You might need to say something. But, I can promise you, they will be going to prison," Phil said. Dan looked confused. He thought that they would be getting money and staying out of prison. Phil noticed his expression. "My dad was lying. There was no way we were going to let them get away with what they did to you," he said, crossing his arms. Dan smiled, leaning against Phil gently.

There was a knock on the door and Dan looked at it nervously. He knew it was highly improbable that his kidnappers would be on the other side of the door, but his paranoia had been hyperactive for the past month, and it didn't seem to be going away any time soon.

Phil glanced at Dan, saw how uneasy he looked, and stood up. "I'll be right back," he said, which only resulted in Dan getting more paranoid. That was the last thing Phil had said before he got kidnapped again. Phil didn't seem to notice, and he walked over to the door and opened it. He smiled and let the visitor into the room.

James saw Dan and stood at the end of the bed, looking at him with an expression full of pity. He looked exhausted. "Hey Dan. How are you feeling?" he asked, smiling at him.

Like shit, Dan thought, but he just shrugged.

James nodded. "So, I'm sure Phil has already told you, but the trial is in three days. The doctors have all told me that you'll be out by then, so you'll have to be at the trial," he said.

Dan glanced at Phil and then back at James. He didn't want to be in the same room as his kidnappers ever again. He shook his head in a way to say that he refused to go.

James sighed. "Dan, you have to be there. I know you don't want to go, and you have every reason for it, but you have to at least be in the room. You can leave at any time if it becomes too much. And Phil and I will be with you the whole time," he said. Phil nodded from behind him.

Dan looked at them, knowing that he wasn't going to win this argument. He sighed in defeat and nodded. James smiled and nodded. "Good." He smiled at both Dan and Phil, before leaving the two of them alone in the hospital room.

That night, Phil stayed in Dan's room. He tried to stay awake to make sure he was okay, but he ended up falling asleep in the chair.

Dan couldn't sleep at all. He stared at the ceiling, unsure of what to think. What if Phil left him again, and he had to go to the trial alone? What if the kidnappers take him again?

We will.

Dan let out a small squeak and his eyes widened. He looked a Phil, hoping he was awake, but he wasn't.

Don't make a sound. I thought we had taught you.

Derrick's voice.

Maybe we'll have to explain more. He doesn't seem to be getting it.

Jack's voice, followed by a laugh from Connor.

It's simple, really. Just stay obedient and silent, and you'll be fine!

Dan's head filled with laughter. Tears started flowing down his face, and he covered his ears, closed his eyes, and shook his head, trying to block out the noise. It obviously wasn't working.

Apparently, he was making some noise, because Phil woke up. He looked at Dan sleepily before noticing what was happening. He immediately stood up and rushed over to Dan. "What's wrong?" he asked urgently. Dan barely heard him.

"V-Voice-ces," he whispered, coughing, since he hadn't talked in a little over a month. The voices got louder and he started shaking. He let out another small squeak, which didn't help at all.

We're still not in prison.

We'll come teach you a lesson!

Stop now, and it won't be as bad.

"Dan, look at me," Phil said, sitting in front of Dan, who shook his head. "Please. I just want to help." His voice was calming Dan down, but only slightly. He slowly looked up, sniffling. Phil smiled gently. "Just look into my eyes and listen to my voice. They aren't real. They can't hurt you. They're just voices," he said, trying to calm him down. "And your kidnappers can't hurt you anymore. You don't even need to be near them in the courtroom. You'll be okay," he said.

But Dan didn't feel okay, and he doubted he ever would.
