"Goodbye you two! See you Monday!" Announced Roberto as Krystal, Sasha, Destiny, and him were heading home.
"Later guys! Thanks for coming!" Answered Felix as Layla and him waved at them goodbye.
After much time of games and enjoyment, the sun was setting and it was time for everyone to put the equipment away and start heading home. After the rest of the group had left, Felix turned towards Layla with a confident grin, hoping maybe now she would open up to him more.
"What!? Just because you helped me that day and did this for me doesn't mean we're all buddy-buddy got it!"
Felix's look fell into complete disappointment. "Well, I tried. You have to admit though you had fun didn't you?"
Layla looked up towards the cloudy sky, watching closely as the the wind dragged the cotton like pillows across its splendor. "Yeah... I guess it was," she answered with a smirk.
She gently pushed a few strands of hair behind her ear. She seemed much more at ease than before. Felix felt glad, he might not have won her over, but at least it felt less tense now.
"I have to say though, you're terrible at horseshoe throwing," she added nonchalantly.
Felix's eyes burned up in frustration as he raised his fist, "You might've won this round! But I can assure you! Next time I'll leave you crawling for mercy."
Layla just looked at him with a condescending look.
After immediately calming himself down, Felix spoke, "Hey, I also want to apologize."
Layla looked at him a bit surprised, "For what?"...

Crap! Where could I have left my backpack? Thought Roberto as he lightly jogged towards the track field. He would've walked onto the field if it weren't for the fact that he saw Felix and Layla standing there talking. He hid himself under the bleachers, hoping he wouldn't be spotted.
He wasn't about to intrude in their conversation. After all, I don't want to seem like a third wheel or anything.
Roberto kneeled down and held his legs tightly. What am I doing? I shouldn't be hiding. What would he think of me if he knew about this. Maybe I should just forget about him.
"What are you doing hiding in here?" Said Felix as he looked at Roberto under the bleachers.
Roberto gave out a yelp, "Felix! When did you get here!?"
"Well, I seem to have misplaced my backpack." Answered Felix.
"Seems your not the only one," answered Roberto trying to avoid eye contact.
"In that case, come with me! We probably left them in class."
"N-no! You go ahead, I'll just come back monday for it."
Roberto kept looking away as he got up and tried to run off. But Felix grabbed him by the wrist before he could go any further. Roberto felt a slight tug, causing him to stop.
"Roberto? Is everything okay?" asked Felix with a worried look.
"Yeah! Everything is fine!" Replied Roberto, trying his best to sound cheerful as he kept looking away. He pulled his hand away and ran off without looking back.
Felix stood there, staring at Roberto as he left. He couldn't come to understand what could've made Roberto so upset. Felix faced the ground and turned back towards the dorms while shoving his hands into his pockets. He glanced once more back at his friend before heading to the dorms, but couldn't see him anymore.

"I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings the other day. I didn't mean to."
Those were Felix's exact words as they rang in Layla's head. She was laying on her bed facing the ceiling with an upset expression. She didn't want to accept the fact that Felix was such a sweet guy. How could he be?! After all, he did give up on her at one point didn't he?
Layla turned her body towards the wall and with a low voice murmured, "Idiot."
She heard the door swing open and turned to see Felix walking in with sorrow in his eyes.
"About time. Did you find your bag?"
"No." He answered, obviously upset.
"What's up? Couldn't find it?"
"I don't want to talk about it. I'm gonna take a shower. Watch over my pendant will you?" He said taking off the piece of jewelry from around his neck and underneath his shirt. He places it on the desk and walks over to the closet to get his sleepwear.
"Why do you even have to ask? It's not like anyone is dying to get that old piece of crap!"
Felix turned towards her and threw her a disdainful glare. Layla got quiet and felt a shudder in her spine. For the first time she was scared of Felix. She wasn't sure what happened, but she knew that she should stop unless she wanted him to punch a hole in the wall.
Felix walks into the shower and locks the door behind him, leaving Layla huddled on her bed, staring at the pendant. Why is that thing so important to him? She thought. She walked over to it, wanting to get a closer look. She holds the warm piece of steel close to her face, finding it very intriguing. It was a locket, a gold locket with a steel finish around the bottom. In the center of the locket was a key hole that was meant to be opened by a small key.
"Wait... This looks familiar."
She had seen the locket before. It was the same locket that a certain boy wore during her childhood. A young boy whom she was very close friends with and whom she loved deeply. If Felix has the pendant, could it mean-
"What are you doing with that?" Asked Felix, coming out of the restroom with his school attire still on.
Layla jumped back in surprise and nervously hid the locket behind her. "I-I thought you were already showering."
"I was about to before I realized we ran out of clean towels. I need to go ask Ms. Pipe for some. Why do you have my locket in your hand?"
"W-well I thought it looked interesting so I just wanted to take a closer look."
Felix gave her a confused glare, but he didn't feel like arguing right now so he brushed it off saying, "Whatever. Just don't break it or scratch it."
Felix left the room in search for Ms. Pipe, leaving Layla alone again with the amulet in her hand. Something was definitely going on with him, but right now she had a bigger question to solve. She held the locket up again and looked at it closely with determination in her eyes.
I know where the key is.
