The Road to El Dorado Miguel x Reader

Part twelve

(Y/n) Prov:

Tulio and I were looking at the only exit here, looking at the view before us for the last time. He placed his arm around my shoulder as I hugged myself looking away from Miguel, who was looking at it as well a few feet away from us, and went inside the temple. Tulio let go of me as he started to fill up on some spare gold and placed it in the sack. I grabbed a sack as well and put some gold as well for myself. I noticed Tulio picked up a spare map that was identical to the one Miguel had before we came here. Miguel was behind us looking, Tulio noticed and sighed as he started ripping it up in pieces. I just turned away. I here a crash sound and saw a gold figure piece on the ground broken but had a few features of Tulio. I didn't know what to do, this has never happen to us before. We were always there for each other, but now...it doesn't feel like home anymore.  Miguel was walking past us as we stood up, Tulio "Accidentally" bumped Miguel with his sack of gold as we began walking away. I was holding back my tears, knowing I'll never see Miguel again. The one man I fell in love with through out these years, leaving my life just like that. Me and Tulio stopped, looked at each other, then back at Miguel who was putting on his costume to "Look" like a God. We wanted to say something...but the words wouldn't come out. And if we said good bye that would really be the end. We turned away and continued walking away to the outside to the stairs. I looked down at the people While Tulio looked up at the sky. Miguel came up next to us at the edge of the stairs. We looked at him but he turned away. We both sighed and made our way down, he followed but kept his distance from us. 

As we made it to the bottom, The chief was there to greet us farewell. He took out his hand for a hand shake, we reached for it only for him to sike us. He smiled and we started laughing. Then he grabbed us in his bear hug, squishing us, then put us down and gave us a hard hand shake goodbye. I patted Tulio's back as he took a deep breath, I giggled a bit. We started giving  high fives to some of the people as we made our way to the boat. The kids were giving us hugs and saying they'll miss us and good bye. Then we came up to Altivo. I stopped and gave him tight hug bearing my face on his coat feeling one tear escaping my eye. Tulio kept going  only for Altivo to stop him. Tulio petted his nose a little only for Altivo to lick it, he wiped it of. I let go of Altivo and Moved away as He licked Tulio's back, I giggled again. Before Tulio could do anything Chel came up to him by the arm and we walked together. 

We stopped, looking at the boat and all the gold on it. Chel went ahead, leaning on the side of it. 'This is really it.' I thought and i could tell that Tulio thought the same. Then Miguel came up to us again. Tulio was on the right, Miguel was on the left, and I was in the middle. We were silent, I was almost on the brick of breaking down. I didn't want this to be the end of us, the three amigos, but...I wasn't the one to decided that. "Well...good luck you two." Miguel said to us in a sad tone. "Yeah...you to." Tulio said in a said tone as well. I didn't say anything, if I did I probably cry on the spot trying to speak, I just looked down. I looked at Tulio and He looked at me. I moved my head to go on ahead. He sighed and did. I needed to do this. Miguel looked at me with a little hope in his eyes, but I didn't wanted to stay here. "(Y/n), please re-" "I'm not staying Miguel. I know you want me to, but I just can't. This Place...It's not the place for me, but if you want to stay here...I won't stop you. But there's something I need to tell you before I leave, if this really the last time we see each other...I need to tell you now." I said to him and he nodded. I took a deep breath. 'No turning back now.' "Miguel, I love you. I loved you since you guys took me in your group. I never said anything because you didn't seem to feel the same for me as the years went by." His faced looked shocked, but I kept going. "I thought I could move on and love someone else, but that wasn't the case. But, no matter what I tried, my heart would only respond to you." I said feeling the tears flowing out. "But your not the same person I knew back in Spain, Before this adventure. I love the the Miguel I knew...my best friend...not this God Miguel you became." I went up to him and kissed him on the cheek to which caught him off guard. "I'm sorry." I said gripping on my bags handles and ran to Tulio and Chel at the boat. Tulio hugged me as he patted my head. "You're really growing up." He said as he helped me on to the boat. When we got on board of the deck, I felt Chel put her hand on my shoulder and looked at me to see if i was okay. I tried to smile, but the tears wouldn't stop falling. She gave he a hug as well. "It'll be okay. I'm sure You'll love again." She said to me. I just shook my head. "There will never be another one like him." I said as my voiced cracked a little and the tears kept coming. "Why does leaving hurt so much?" I said as I buried my face on her shoulder. 'The pain would have probably have felt worse if I had said goodbye.'
