Celaena vs Aelin

So, as some of you may know, I prefer Celaena Sardothien over Aelin Galathynius. I know I'm probably the only one so let me explain my reasoning.

In pretty much every fantasy story the main character is brave and willing to give everything up—even die—for their cause. But not Celaena.

That's why I instantly fell in love with her. All Celaena wanted was her freedom—something we all can relate to. Because, let's face it, a tiny band of rebels is never going to take down an ultra-powerful empire because of some mysterious weakness. That doesn't happen. Celaena knew this—so she tried to make the best of what she could have.

Celaena was loyal to her friends, but loyal to herself, too. She was powerful, but she wasn't going to give up everything for someone else. She would give up a lot for them, but she cared about herself as well.

And she wasn't afraid of killing. She was a damn ASSASSIN. And I loved how the main character was not from the weakest part of town and poor and stuff like LITERALLY EVERY OTHER MAIN CHARACTER IN FANTASY/SCI FI BOOKS ARE!! Seriously, like Katniss, Feyre... it's old, guys.

But then she went to Wendlyn and became Aelin Galathynius, and all of a sudden she was ready to give every last shred of her fire and soul for Terrasen. Which is great, I still LOVE Aelin and EoS and stuff, but... it was way better with no Erawan or Maeve and just the king as an enemy. He was a way better enemy—it's way more believable! Evil, tyrannical emperor/kings are a bit more believable than long-lost gods since we have had some tyrannical kings of our own...

Basically, I just think that Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, and the Assassin's Blade were a bit better. They were like some old kings that were real, just set in a badass fantasy setting. And Celaena was a more... relatable (except for her profession)... character.

So I hoped my worthless rant has explained why I prefer Celaena over Aelin (also her name was way better). Please let me know what you think. And if I have any more Celaena fans, PLEASE JOIN ME I'M ALL ALONNNNEEEE.

(Just reminding you: I still love Aelin and all, please do not misunderstand that!)
