The Secret of the Westbury Faery

Part 3

A couple day's later Lauren's and Philip's life started to crumble. On a monday night of december I followed Philip down to the Laudanum store so Philip could get some more medicine. He was counting his pennies the whole way. Rummaging through every single part of his coat looking for just an extra couple cents. The bottle of Laudanum was almost done, only a few drops remained at the bottom of it, piling together in one tiny puddle.

As he was walking across the street he happened to pass by one of the Moran Bros brothers, Kyle Moran. Kyle was standing in front of his store looking for something in the cracks of the streets. Philip watched him curiously as Kyle stood back up, muttering stuff incomprehensible to anyone. Philip glanced up at the store and finally his eyes rested upon the sign saying closed. He turned to Kyle and asked him what he was doing. Kyle glanced at him haughtily with a tone of great arrogance, saying that he was one of the moran bros and he was looking for the key to his store. Philip seeing his opportunity to gain something for his benefit gave Kyle an offer. If he found the key first then, he would get a free bottle of laudanum and some food in return. Kyle didn't respond but instead nodded his head slightly acknowledging the deal.

 At this time I felt the need to help Philip because I knew he would never find the key, so I concealed myself in glamour so they would only think that I was a stray cat. I walked up to Philip with a copy of the key in my mouth, since the key to the store was actually still in Kyle's house, and I dropped it in front of him. Philip looked at me strangely but then whispered thank you and turned to Kyle and handed him the key. Kyle without a word of thanks took the key, stuck the key in the lock and opened the store with a click.

 He went in grabbed a bottle of Laudanum and came back out shoving it in front of Philip. Philip thanked him gratefully but he grabbed onto Kyle's coat and asked about the food. Kyle ignored him saying that if he wasn't grateful for the Laudanum he would take it back. Kyle still on the steps reached for Philips bottle and Philip pulled back causing Kyle to lose his balance. Philip noticing this tried to reach towards Kyle but instead of helping him he ended up swiveling of the stairs landing directly on the back of his head and passing out. 

Philip thoroughly shocked stood there unable to do anything. He knew that if he went to the police they would charge him as a murderer and he would go to prison, and he knew he couldn't leave Lauren alone. So the only thing he could do was run, and run he did clinging to the bottle of Laudanum as he went. I followed him as he ran onto Bridge Street into Windmill lane to hide a few days before going to his house to grab Lauren. A few days later he snuck Lauren out of his house, with the little money they had, and boarded the ship to Canada.

They succeeded in boarding the ship heading to Canada. Philip reassured Lauren that she would be okay even though they barely had enough money to rent out the cabin and provide themselves with food. Philip not wanting to scare Lauren more than she was didn't tell her that he had accidently killed one of the Moran brother. But even without that knowledge Lauren was convinced that something was following her. I still don't know if it was me that she sensed first or some other creature, that I hadn't realized at that time. But I let them sail a couple of days in peace so Lauren wouldn't suspect me.

Before I got to do anything I had to leave them because I found out that Lauren was right about something following the ship. I had been so preoccupied with trying to break them up, I hadn't realized that my parents had sent a selkie to follow me. I had left without telling them since I knew they wouldn't agree with me chasing after a human. So in order for me to get rid of the selkie I jumped in the water and called a dolphin to take me to the nearest ship. I boarded the next ship which I later found was going to England, to get the selkie to follow me. Just like I planned the selkie followed me aboard the ship. 

We landed on England and I stayed there a couple days hiding on carriages to take me to Westbury. To faeries westbury was a dangerous or sacred place. Since Westbury was a connection into the faery realm, if I went there my parents would be alerted of where I was. But that was the point, I went into the woods of Wiltshire and entered the faery realm, I made sure that the faery guards saw me and when they turned the other way I ran towards the cover of a brush and went through the portal in my mirror.
