A Not So Awkward Start

I don't know of you guys babysit or not but it is one tiring job! Babysitting my little cousins Matthew and Sarah and I finally get a break!

Their friends are over so Im using the advantage to write the next chapter for you guys ;)

Kairi pov:

I heard Trinity scream and I looked over to see a wet Paulmer making his way across the river. He met my eyes and I felt something spark inside. After a long year my wolf had finally awakened. His gaze on me only boosted my confidence and I smiled at him.

"It's been a while. Mate."

I saw the corner of his mouth lift a bit at the gaps around me. It's the most I've ever seen him smile. It stirred some unknown feelings inside of me. I decided I didn't like them.

"You forget to take off your clothes Paulmer?"

He looked down at his clothing and shrugged. "I suppose so."

As brief as ever. I studied him for a bit. Nothing really seemed to different about him. He was darker than before and bigger. His arm seemed to be the size of my thigh. His hair still chocolate and with his wet shirt clinging to his body I'd was easy to make out the ripples in his abdomen. Six perfect squares.

"You look good." He nodded and I felt Derek tense beneath me. I stroked his hair without taking my eyes away from Paulmer. "Well, aren't you going to say it back?" The corner of his mouth lifted away.

"You look good, Kairi." I gave him a lazy smile.

"I know I do. Did you want to join us?" He hesitated. I was leaning on his saying for he hated to do things that weren't necessary. But his hesitating made me wonder if he would actually say yes.

But we were interrupted by two people again.

"Get you filthy hands off of me Demetre! Stop that hurts!" I climbed down Derek's back and ran towards Trinity.

He had her by the wrist and it set me into a frenzy. I picked up the biggest stick I could find and I hit him across the back. He didnt do anything except flinch, but then again, hurting him hadn't been my intent.

"Get out of here you stupid dog!"

"Oh that's rich. Last I checked honey you were one too. And I believe the rightful term for your kind is b-" I shifted and tackled him to the ground. Something forbidden for any wolf to do but I didn't give a flying hoot at that moment.

He shifted under me and I jumped off of him. He was no match for me. I had been trained by the best and I could even put up a.fight against Markus. Demetre would be no problem.

But Paulmer walked up to him and flicked him nose.

"Dont you even think about touching her." He grabbed Demetre by the fur and started to drag him off in the direction of pack house.

As they got further away the more the truth of what I did hit me. I had attacked Demetre while he was still a human. How could I have let that happen? I felt someone's hand on my fur but I couldn't face anyone right now. I was too embarrassed. So I took off to the one person I could trust to not judge me. Papa.

"What's wrong darling?" I sighed and walked over to him. He was on the sofa with his legs folded and the newspaper in his hands. I looked around for the hot chocolate and laughed when I spotted it on the coffee table. Sitting next to him I laid my head in his lap and he stroked my hair.

"Papa I just made a huge mistake." He put the paper down.

"Mind elaborating. I can not read you mind baby girl." I shrugged.
