Chapter 1
3 1/2 Years Later:
"Mom, we have to go!" I yelled up to my mom who was getting ready upstairs.
Today was orientation for 10th grade. I can't believe that it's been 3 1/2 years since I moved to London during the summer before 7th grade. I had gotten exceptionally used to things here already. It wasn't much different from Oregon. It wasn't as reserved and quiet, but it wasn't a place like New York City that was always busy and had bright lights everywhere. I kind of liked it here actually.
"Okay, I'm coming!" My mom yelled down to me as she walked down the stairs while fixing her ponytail. Sometimes I swear that she's more of a teenager than I was.
We walked out of the house and hopped in the car. Since I was going to the same high school as last year, my mom had practically had every turn memorized. As we pulled up to the parking lot, we were stopped by a massive crowd of cars, all going the same way we were. As everyone moved up and found their spots, we finally found ours. After we parked, we got out and started walking through the massive gates of Hilton High School.
My school wasn't anything like the school I went to in Oregon. Mainly, because it was a high school and not a middle school. However, it was uniquely different. It didn't really look like a high school actually. It looked a bit like a university. The campus itself was massive! Besides, the massiveness of the campus, the design of it was very well thought out also. All of the classrooms were shaped into a huge flower, at least that's the way it looked like in the school organizers they hand out. The buildings were painted beautiful shades of grey, blue, and red. The doors were long and skinny. They went almost all the way to the ceiling of the classrooms. It reminded me of the doors at my doctor's office in Oregon. The people were splendid also. They were all so nice and kind. They really made it seem almost like a home to me.
As i walked into the main office, i was greeted by a lady wearing an outfit that you'd wear at court. She passed out these brochure-like packets. I read it while walking to the multiple purpose room to start the orientation. As I walked into the orientation room, I saw all of the tables and stations set up. There was one where you get your schedule, one where you can make a donation to the school, and many more. My mom went to go check out the donations table while I went to get my schedule.
