The room fell silent. It was the strangest experience for Jiyoon as she knew from all the many fancams, variety shows and performances she watched of them that they were never, NEVER completely silent. But that one single statement rendered them incapable of any speech. Suho’s mouth was agape and when he finally found his voice, he said, “Congratulations!” and came to shake Luhan’s hand. This small action brought the rest of the group out of their silence and into uproar.
“WHAT??”
“Are you joking?”
“Wait… what did you say again?”
“I … I don’t understand…”
“Good one, hyung! It is a prank right?”
“With this plain and boring girl?”
When Luhan did not answer, Kris shut them up and made them sit down. Jiyoon wanted so badly to defend herself against such mean remarks. I may not be pretty but at least I have brains! But she refrained in case Luhan had a better solution and she didn’t exactly want to ruin the group’s good relationship with each other, so she remained quiet beside Luhan. He led her to sit beside him on the chairs by the wall, keeping her hand firmly in his grasp.
“No, I am not joking. Jiyoon is more than I could have asked for and I don’t mind having to be with her for the rest of my life,” Luhan said. Even though he spoke quietly, they all heard clearly. However, Jiyoon could see the Sehun wanted to object from the pained expression on his face. “Well, I suppose that is all. Let’s go.” Luhan said the first half to his members, the second half to her while tugging on her hand to stand up.
“Um, it was nice to meet you all. I hope we’ll be friends in the future,” Jiyoon said hastily before following Luhan out the door. As soon as she passed the threshold, Jiyoon breathed a sigh of relief. Being around idols was different and she wanted to present herself in the best possible way so that she didn’t seem like just another shallow, crazy fan girl. Not that she believed all fan girls were like that, only some.
“So, what did you think?” He asked, swinging their joined hands.
“Well, they’re just like the way they present themselves on TV. Only, I think they are more outgoing and open when they’re by themselves. Is it possible… that my friends could meet them one day?” She said, staring at the ground as they walked. Jiyoon had remembered that her friends had asked her the other day, and she wanted everyone to be friends.
They waited for the elevator to arrive and as they travelled down, Luhan had put on a pair of sunglasses. He wrapped an arm protectively around Jiyoon as they stepped out and hurried outside to his car. Unbelievably, the fans seemed to have gathered around the front of the building and when the girls saw Luhan’s recognizable pink hair, they all screamed simultaneously.
“Luhan-oppa!”
“Oppa sarangheyo!”
“Will you take a photo with me?!”
These were just some of the many things that the fan girls shouted and Jiyoon flinched from their loud screams. She was getting rather annoyed as Luhan fought his way through the crowds and had to push people out of the way. “Excuse us, please!”
“Oppa, who’s that girl?”
“Yeah! Who is she?”
When some of the girls had noticed, they took out cameras and took photos. Great, now there’s evidence. Luhan quickly shushed them and waved away their questions. He turned and faced them, “She is a friend of mine. Now, please excuse us,” he said in a monotone and with a final push, the two were clear of the fan girls.
