Die Et
I ran, and ran on the treadmill. Sweat was dripping down my forehead as I watched the skinny girl on the television influencing me to run harder.
"Almost done!" Her optimistic voice called out in the video.
I ran my hardest at the last few seconds, and slowly stopped. Okay, now time to check my weight.
I went to the back of the gym room, and checked my weight. I was currently 180 pounds. Yes! I lost ten pounds! I'm so proud of myself. Now, time to go get me a snack.
I went to this nearby cafe that sold the cutest little cuisines. I normally ordered a diet ice tea, and an American salad.
"Welcome to Rosetta Barista, how may I help you?" The cashier was really handsome. His black hair was combed nicely, and his voice was soothing. I was in love.
"I will have a diet ice tea with an America salad please." I blushed, and couldn't look him in the eyes.
"Alrighty, you will hear the buzzer go off when it's done." He smiles. Wow! Even his smile is mesmerizing.
I went to sit down to wait. I was blushing like crazy. I would occasionally stare up to see him smiling at me as he tends to other customers. Maybe I should come here everyday. Yes, that is my plan.
Two days later after my normal gym routine, I had noticed I put on five pounds. What the hell?! I didn't even eat anything, but that salad, and ice tea. Maybe I will ask him to make a smaller portion, but I doubt they would do that, and I didn't want to waste food. Oh well, I just have to work out twice as hard.
I went to the same cafe yet again, and saw the handsome cashier. "Hey there, should I get your regular order?" He smiles.
Wow he remembers me! I blushed. "Yes please."
"The buzzer will go off when it's ready." He smiles.
"Okay thanks!" As soon as I was about to walk away to an available seat, I heard him say "lose some weight."
"Pardon?" I looked back.
He smiles. "I said the buzzer will go off when it's ready."
"Ah yeah." Sweat was dripping down my face. It was like he was whispering that to me so no one else could hear him. No way, I am just paranoid.
I went to sit down. I heard chatting from a couple close by to me. They were looking at me, and laughing. "Look at that fatty over there." The woman said to the man. My heart sunk. Did I really put on that much weight?
Ever since that day, I heard whispering all the time. I heard it from everyone. I couldn't even go to the gym.
I sat in my room with the tv blasting. I was on a work out channel as always. The woman spoke to the man. "You know, a lot of people are going for the American salad these days."
The man spoke back, and said "yes, I can see that. However, they made a huge mistake since an American salad contains a lot of calories."
My stomach began hurting. I have been doing everything wrong. I am stupid. No wonder everyone is making fun of me. I have to change my ways.
Six months later I have finally achieved my dream body. I got out of the shower to see my reflection. I was skinny, beautiful, and most importantly, confident. I will see that handsome guy today.
I got on the scale before I left. I was 70 pounds. Perfect.
I got to the cafe, and went inside. The same handsome cashier was still there. "Hello, welcome to Rosetta Barista, how may I help you?" His face looked a bit uncomfortable.
"Hello, may I have the combo." I said.
"Alright, the buzz-"
"Do you remember me?" I smiled in hopes he would say yes.
"Yes, you always ordered the diet ice tea, and the American salad." He said as he stares at me from the corner of his eye.
I smiled brightly. "Wow you do remember m-"
Before I could finish my sentence, I heard him whispering something to me. "Lose some weight."
My eyes widened, and it was as if I passed out or something. I didn't know what happened. I merely closed my eyes, and when I opened them, I saw a knife in the man's chest. He was dead.
I thought the voices would stop once he was dead, but they kept continuing.
"Lose some weight."
"You're fat."
"Pig!"
"Disgusting!"
"Diet!"
Backstory
I was a cashier at the Rosetta Barista. I noticed a cute girl coming in regularly to order her typical diet ice tea, and American salad. Normally I wouldn't remember anyone's order, but since she was quite adorable, my brain decided to keep her order in mind. I hope she doesn't think I am creepy.
I always notice her staring, and blushing at me. She is so cute. Maybe I should ask her for her number eventually. Maybe when she comes in for a week straight I will ask. I am shy.
I will talk to her more tomorrow.
