'Good morning sir, madams' the waiter smiled politely and welcomed us inside. The restaurant looked very luxurious, so you sure as hell need an reservation to get in here. Maybe he planned this whole lunch bullshit a long time ago, he really is creeping me out 'ugh'. My thoughts have been interrupted by David's voice. 'Good morning, we have an reservation for lunch. The name is Daniels.' David replied coldly. The wide smile on the waiters face faded away.
I instantly felt bad for him, it annoys me when rich people treat the staff like they're some sort of garbage. If I was in a different situation right now, I'd punch that bastard right in the face, ohh how fun would it be to hear him beg for me to stop. 'Uhum uhm' I coughed and scratched my nose to disguise the smirk that was starting to form on my face. My imagination kind of terrifies me though, it looks like I do have an evil side after all.
'That's right, sir. May I take your jackets?' We gave the waiter our jackets and sat at our table. It was so damn awkward, we were all looking at the menu cards and none of us uttered a word. After five minutes a tall brunette came to take our orders. I decided to go with something simple, considering that everything in this damn restaurant was extremely expensive.
Kelly couldn't stand the silence and obviously had to start a conversation. She sounded awfully cheerful talking to the prick, that was now moving closer to me. I started getting anxious at the thought of him being so close to me, from time to time I answered some questions with a yes or no or a single nod. It was definitely not how I imagined my lunch break to be, but i had to bear with it for the sake of my friend, who was at the moment grinning and laughing like a teenage girl.
My misery was cut by the waiter that came by to take our now empty dishes. David nonchalantly asked him for the bill and placed his arms around my chair. He undoubtedly spotted my discomfort and removed his arm from where it surely didn't belong. Well for a second I thought that he actually was a cool dude, but the next thing I know is his hand on my thigh. Nobody could see his hand thanks to the table cloth. 'Did you enjoy your lunch, Rose?' He asked and squeezed my thigh. I was starting to get uncomfortable as I felt his hand shift closer to my exposed inner thigh. Why the heck did I have to wear a skirt today. My heart was racing but I tried to remain calm as if nothing was going on. 'Um yeah I did' I then peeked at my watch and exclaimed 'but I think we should go now, otherwise we will be late' I didn't wait for their answers, I couldn't stand his hands on me anymore so I pushed my chair back and stood up, my furious gaze landed on David, but he ignored it and pretended as if he hasn't noticed me.
Kelly didn't seem to notice my distaste either, due to her eyes, that never left Mr.Daniels. 'Here is the bill, sir' the waiter blurted out. David didn't pay any attention to him, he tossed the money on the table without saying anything to the worker, as if he was nonexistent. He was being acutely rude, for some weird reason that my mind wasn't able to understand. Kelly didn't seem to pay any attention to his attitude. She kept looking at him as if he was the most beautiful masterpiece in the whole world.
I could not look at them, so I quickly walked away from the table. I made my way into the lobby, where all the coats and jackets were hanging. As soon as I put my coat on, I heard footsteps and giggles approaching me from behind. I turned around and to my surprise it wasn't who I was expecting. Before I realize that I was gawking at them like a fool it was to late to hide.
Veronica and Ryan have acknowledged my presence in the lobby and strode towards me. Is this really happening? I asked myself even though I knew the answer. I even closed my eyes in hope that they'd disappear. 'Hey Rose, what brings you here?' Ry asked 'You know, my lunch break' I answered with a pinch of sarcasm. Veronica smiled and nudged him slightly in the arm. 'Honey what kind of a question is that? Anyways, we should hang out soon, maybe this weekend what do you say Rose?' The sincere smile on her face felt like bitch slap to me. Why did he have to choose such a good girl. 'Pff' I've put on my happy face, that I've obviously mastered overtime and looked at them. 'Yeah I'm not sure, I'll stay in touch with you. I'm just pretty busy lately, you know.' The feeling in the pit of my stomach after I smoothly declined Veronica's offer wasn't as bad as the displeased look on Ryan's face.
He opened his mouth to most likely scold me for the big lie that I just told, but he was interrupted by the infamous creep David. 'Whoa man I haven't seen you in a while..how's it going?' David seemed to be a little taken aback by the unexpected meeting. 'Yeah it was a while, but I've been good. Nevertheless tell me what you're doing here.' Ryan's face turned into a more serious one as he slowly observed the man in front of him. To me it al looked a little skeptical, since the day I told Ryan where I worked. How do they even know each other?
'Me? Well I brought those tto lovely lady's with me to eat lunch.' Ryan appeared a little troubled with David's reply. I assumed that he didn't know who the second lady was, seeing that Kelly was the only one that stood beside the creep. So I of course had to interfere and step out of the corner that I've currently pushed myself into. 'He means me' I gazed at Ryan with a blank expression. It's not like I did something wrong. 'What do you mean by that?' Ohh seriously, does he really want to play this game with me, he knows exactly what I mean. What does it have to do with him anyway. I thought to myself.
'What I said means that I came here with him to eat lunch, do you get it or do I have to spell it out for you?' I muttered and gazed around the lobby, the eyes of the other guest angered me even more. What are they thinking, can't they just walk past without gawking like some imbeciles, ughh. My thought have been stopped by the one and only Ryan. 'No I get it, you can keep your sarcasm to yourself though.' He scoffed and walked out of the lobby with Veronica that had no idea what just happened. Neither did I though.
'Well that was interesting, shall we?' David motioned his hand to the exit and before he had the chance to put his hand on my back I sprinted towards the door nearly tripping over the red carpet. None of the two had the chance to stop me from stepping inside the cab either. I was focused on reaching my office on time, yesterday I told my boss that I know what my responsibilities are, one of them is being punctual. 'Can you drive faster!' I yelled at the old man in the front seat. I felt bad for yelling at him though, I shouldn't release my anger on a stranger. 'I'm sorry, I can't drive faster I'm already exceeding the speed limit.' The driver replied quietly. I sighed and pulled my phone out of the purse that I was holding tightly in my hand. I looked at the screen, I had one missed call and two messages from Ryan. I wasn't shocked, I knew he would text me sooner or later.
"What the hell was that Rose?"
"And what the fuck were you thinking? Going out ? With HIM ? Answer me damnit!"
So yeah I am definitely not the only one with anger issues. I put my phone back into my purse and leaned against the seat. I need to cool down before I answer him.
