Rick walked into his living room finding Daryl on the couch.

"Watcha doin'?" Rick asked Daryl as he looked up from a famous distraction called his phone.

"Textin'." Daryl replied.

Rick wasn't going to ask who he was texting. It wasn't his business to invade on his friend's privacy.

"Alright. Are ya plannin' on stayin' the night again, or nah?

Daryl had stayed the night because Rick had found him in a bar the night before and if he hadn't stepped in to stop him, a drunk Daryl would have gotten into a really bad fist fight.

Daryl shook his head. "Nah. Merle will start assumin' and he'll probably come out an' try ta look for me."

Rick cocked his head.
"You didn't tell him?" Rick asked.

Daryl shook his head. "No. And I never will. He don't need ta know."

Rick nodded.
"Got it. I won't tell him nothin', not if you don't want me ta."

Daryl gave a curt nod. "Thanks."

"No problem."

Daryl looked over at Rick, his gaze growing intently on him.
"Aye." Daryl called as Rick started to walk out of the living room and made his way back to Daryl as soon as he said 'comere'.

Rick sat next to Daryl on the couch while Daryl held out his phone for Rick to see. "What're these?" Daryl questioned as he pointed to the bottom of the screen that held a lot of smiley faces with tons of different emotions.

Rick chuckled and tried to put a hand to his face to restrain his laugh.
"What's so damn funny, eh?" Daryl glared.

Rick broke. Laughter filled the room as Rick continued to have his giggle fit. Daryl felt his face flush red as as he swiped the phone away from veiw.

"Never mind, dammit." Daryl muttered in anger. Rick wiped a tear from his eye as the humor of the "joke" subsided.
"They're called emojis, Daryl." Rick gasped still trying to catch his breath. "You've had that phone for a year an' you're just now findin' out these exist?"

Daryl shrugged. "Don't matter. Jus' wanted to know." Daryl muttered looking down at his feet. One of the many important things Rick forgot about Daryl, was that underneath that tough shell, he was sensitive. And he only bothered showing that side of him to the ones he truly trusted.

"Hey, it's no big deal." Rick spoke trying to bring Daryl back to happiness. "Things happen like that all the time. We're all clueless at least once in our lives."

Rick hoped that was enough to cheer up his friend at least a little. Daryl gave a quick 'yeah' and looked back up at his phone letting Rick know he had successfully completed his mission.

"So they each have different faces." Daryl pondered aloud.

"Yup." Rick replied.

"What's this one supposed ta mean?" Daryl asked as he pointed to a face that had tears falling from its eyes.

"That's one ya send when you're laughing about somethin' that someone said to ya or it's jus' somethin' funny in general. Like for a good example, that was just me a few minutes ago." Rick joked.

Daryl sighed but said nothing more as he scrolled through the many faces. "An' this?" Daryl showed rick an emoji that had its eyes closed and had steam coming out of its non-existent nose.

"That's when ya don't like somethin' someone says and yer low-key mad at them."

"Oh look, I think we each found our own emojims or whatever the fuck they're called."

"Emojis." Rick corrected.

"Whatever."

Daryl came down to an emoji with a winky face with its lips puckered out as well as a heart next to its little lips.

Daryl didn't need to ask Rick for his next answer, as Rick was already on it.

"That's a kissy face emoji. Those are commonly sent in relationships or yer jus' tellin' the person how much ya love them." Rick clarified. Daryl stiffened a little and Rick raised an eyebrow. "You in a relationship or somethin'?"

Daryl shifted in his seat uncomfortably, but Rick really wanted to know. "Well, who is it?" Rick asked. Daryl just shook his head in reply. That's when Rick caught on.

"Beth?... It's Beth isn't it?"

When Daryl got up to get his stuff together, Rick felt a pinch of sadness at the thought of his friend being in a relationship.

Or so Rick thought.

"I gotta go. Merle will start bitchin'." Daryl mumbled quickly grabbing his backpack and heading out the door. Before Rick could stop him, his friend was gone.

Rick went back to his room in frustration. What the hell was wrong with him? He knew he shouldn't have kept asking questions when Daryl was obviously not comfortable with the conversation. But curiosity had gotten the best of Rick.

Rick let himself fall back onto his bed in defeat. He lay there for a few minutes contemplating everything else in this world that just wasn't fair when he heard a ring sound from his phone. Getting up and grabbing his phone from the nightstand next to his bed he turned on the screen and smiled when he saw a text from Daryl that held an uncountable amount of kissy face emojis.

"That's a kissy face emoji. Those are commonly sent in relationships or yer jus' tellin' the person how much ya love them."

AN: Sometimes I like to tackle certain subjects that I have never once seen in Rickyl or any other ships. Maybe they exist, maybe they don't, I dunno. :/  But I was so overjoyed with how much people liked the last chapter, and the feedback really gave me strength to write another one.

This chapter is also in dedication to dixonsArmy for the kind words of motivation they gave to me. Thank you so much, you really make me happy! :)
